I had such fun, I totally forgot I saw you on Thurs.
haha...am i that forgettable? we chatted a bit before you saw The Vertical Hour.
Overall, I agree with your ratings except Tarzan and Vertical Hour (plus I have yet to see Curtains). And yes, Bwayfan4, it is possible to dislike Avenue Q. In fact I despise the musical. After the first two or three songs, I thought the humor got old and forced. I would give the following ratings though:
Les Miserables **
The Vertical Hour **
A Chorus Line ******
The Apple Tree **
Spring Awakening ****
Grey Gardens *****
Avenue Q **
Beauty and the Beast ***
Chicago **
Hairspray **
Jersey Boys *****
Mamma Mia **
Spelling Bee ****
Rent ***
Tarzan *
Spamalot **
The Color Purple **
The Drowsy Chaperone ***
The Producers *
The Lion King *
The Phantom of the Opera **
Wicked ***
Muscle, I am glad you got so many shows in and increased your love of David Hare. You love theatre and commit to seeing as much as you can. I give you credit for taking chances on shows. I dont take as many chances as you. I enjoyed your reviews and agreed with many of them. :)
I think David Hare is brilliant, also now it was the perfect time to get political and talk about 9-11 and the war in Iraq. Perfect timing, perfect play.
I found this very interesting article about Hare and The Vertical Hour on playbill.com

glad you liked the vertical hour and am so happy that you loved Spring Awakening!!
I absolutely loved Spring Awakening.
Also The cast is so nice after the show!
Is Lea Michelle always that shy?
One time I went to see The Wedding Singer and sat next to Gerard Canonico and Allison Fischer. They are such nice guys.
Good to know he is working in a hit show!
aww that's awesome.
well when I stagedoored lea was a little shy but more in a hurry (her boyfriend was there) but seemed very polite and signed and posed for pictures. the fans can be a little intense at times so maybe thats it but she was great to us.

"Rentboy, have you listened to any rock music from the last decade or so? I'm pretty sure Spring Awakening is rock. Moreso than RENT."
Now who's getting catty? I wasn't trying to be mean, I honestly wanted to know why he didn't like Curtains. I haven't seen it, it's a new show, I'm want to her pros/cons about the show.
And I enjoy Spring Awakening, I'm not sure it's as great as some ppl make it out to be, but what is? But I think "Rock 'n Roll" and "Broadway" will never been mixed. I wouldn't even consider "RENT" rock n' roll. I think people just hear a guitar and think that. But music is art and art is subjective, so if you think it's rock music, then by all means call it rock music.
Lea is very shy. She's sweet though.
I'm glad you had such a good time! I don't agree about Grey dardens, but I agree with everything else out of what I've seen.
And a note for the rest of you: You do NOT need to be so rude. If he didn't like something, he didn't like it.
I also hold different opinions. Am I one of the only people who thought A Chorus Line was just bad? The cast couldn't sing, act, or dance well enough to be on Broadway.
dancing, what did you think about Grey Gardens?
itstheM, I thought that the dancers in ACL were fantastic. But we all have different opinions although, maybe you caught them on an "off" night?

Muscle, how was the orchestra in Les Miz? I heard they sorta trimmed it down. Did it still have the "umph" that you'd expect for such a big show, like Wicked, or no?
My computer froze every time I tried to answer you. That was annoying. I LOVED Grey Gardens. I don't think I really could find anything wrong with it.
"Ebersole is truly a Broadway diva. Not just a star. Grey Gardens is a must see. The best acting in a musical this season. Mary Louise Wilson is brilliant as well. Best luck at the Tonys girls! ****"
Hey, I loved this show, I gave it 4 stars out of 5 just because I felt like the beginning was a little slow. But I also loved it.
Rentboy
I was in the 2nd row of the mezzanine at Les Miz
we got student tickets for that, I didn't pay attention to the orchestra, sorry.

This is interesting thanks! Dont agree with some of your star ratings though! lol :o)
Feel free to expand about your disagreements.
I forgot to add that Spring Awakening's Lauren Pritchard's voice is terrific! She can really sing.

Wow, I'm pretty sure this thread was started as a place for 'muscle' to express his thoughts on the shows he saw, and rate them. I don't think he asked everyone else to give their own personal "star" ratings on everything.
sunday: I did ask people to tell me how they disagreed with me. So anyone is welcome to post their own rates.
jaystarr: I didn't have time to see all the shows I wanted to.
I was just listening to the CD of "A Chorus Line", this musical is a masterpiece, definitly the best on Broadway. The opening gives me goose bumps.
