I think this was more how people engage with actors on social media and the like?

Typically if I know an actor, and they don't have time to meet during the day, they tell me to meet them before the show as they're going in. This is usually when an actor has a train to catch after the show and doesn't really have time to visit with people backstage or sign at the stage door. They tell me to meet them before the show at a certain time, because in these instances, that's what is most convenient for them.

To clarify, please don't take this as an approval of people hanging out waiting for autographs before the show. That is incredibly rude and invasive, and could potentially make them late for work (which is very serious in this business). Lest anyone tries to take my playing devil's advocate and use it as an excuse to "meet their fave" while they're trying to get to work.

It also depends on the show. I was going down 44th a few weeks ago after a performance of What the Constitution Means to Me, and there were maybe 5 people at the stagedoor. I feel like the younger the following of the show, the more insane the environment around the theatre will be.

Im so with you on this!! I love walking around before and after a show, seeing everyone lineup outside their theatre all giddy with excitement. And afterwards, love seeing everyone with their playbills and (mostly) smiles on their faces. Its all part of the excitement for me, couldn't agree with you more!

Aw I like where this discussion is going! Count me among the people who like to observe what the lines look like, how crowded they are, etc. The line for Burn This was crazy last time I was over there!
