Actually, he probably best known for playing George & Weezy's annoying neighbor, Bentley, on The Jeffersons.

Everytime we went out to dinner or a function people always yelled: "BENTLY!"

When I think of him it's as the crazy director in the movie "The Goodbye Girl".

He was very funny.

Actually, his name wasn't Guffman, it was Loomis, as in Roy Loomis.

The Roy Loomis moment is an iconic one in films. To me, worth every episode of JEFFERSONS. But I loved him in MUSIC MAN with Bierko and Luker, too. He found a new way to play the mayor that wasn't so over-the-top.

Very sad. He was relatively young, too.

I saw him in The Music Man revival back in 2000. He was very funny.

How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

He co-starred in a movie I once wrote. It was so bad I'm ashamed to mention the title. But he was excellent, and a warm funny man on the set. It wasn't the script (as written) or the acting. That leaves . . .?

That is sad. You folks surely gave a great bio of him. I only recalled him from The Jeffersons and as Loomis who sat down in the audience in "Guffman.

And to Dollypop, I agree 70 is relatively young. Heh. I turned 70 in October. :)

Was he still in The Music Man during Eric McCormack's run?

He suffered from acromegaly; I wonder if that had anything to do with his rather premature death.

He was terrific in the original off-broadway production of Little Murders. He played the minister.

I really would like to know if he was in The Music Man at the same time as Eric McCormack because that's when I saw the show and I don't know if Mr. Benedict had left the production by then.
