Whitney H's version of "I Will Always Love You" is beyond awful. If you've seen the film version of "Whorehouse," where Dolly sings it to Burt, that's how it's supposed to be........sweet, simple and so moving!
The complete track listing follows: "Something Beautiful" (with Stephen Flaherty) "One Day" (with Andrew Lippa) "I Will Always Love You" (duet with Dolly Parton) "Gotta Start Small" (with Deborah Abramson) "15 Pounds (Away From My Love)" (with Zina Goldrich & Marcy Heisler) "Never Neverland (Fly Away)" (with Scott Alan) "The Hardest Part of Love" (with Steve Marzullo) "Invention" (with Paul Loesel) "Making Good" (with Stephen Schwartz) "Because I Am a Wife" (with Claude-Michel Schonberg) "Smart Women" (with Marvin Hamlisch) "The Human Heart" (with Stephen Flaherty) "Life Starts Clapping" (with Paul Loesel) Playbill article
That was a great article, thank you so much for sharing!
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
I too wish she had maybe switched out one of those, but I can not wait for this album. I hope it as great as Julia Murney's

I never knew the name of the song she sang at the Defying Inequality benefit earlier this year. It was one of my favorite performances of the evening. Any chance that's on the new CD?
didn't she sing 'making good'? if so yes it is on the cd.

I think the version of Never Never Land is the current background music on her website- stephaniejblock.com
It's a stronger version, with a few minor lyric changes.

I saw the show today. WOW! Stephanie is the standout. She should totally get a Tony nomination for her performance. Her voice is the best one on that stage.
I dont know if this is posted anywhere else on here but while the hard copy of her CD is available June 2nd, it will be available for download on iTunes on May 12th
I just listened to the whole thing and ...Wow. It's just gorgeous. Soft, understated, emotional, and SJB uses a lovely husky tone that I wasn't expecting. She really interpreted this song in a different, beautiful way. I can't wait to hear the rest.
ETA: I'm not a big fan on Dolly's vocals sometimes and I wasn't sure how their voices would work together, but Dolly sounds great and compliments SJB really well!
