This is fun, all this speculation and great ideas. Hope the 'maybe' creators of the supposed SB movie are reading this.
Was wondering who will this film be marketed towards? I am sure that ALW will be front and foremost above the title before the cast.
This will be more art-house selected audience and not cineplex fodder but then Into the Woods had a good run--much more difficult to sit through than SB.
Anthony Warlow for Max for the voice. He's only 57 but clothes, lighting makeup can age him up.
If only Hugh was not too old as his Joe in Melbourne was beyond handsome, and in that cream suit, that was the right colour for what it made the audience do.
Katharine McPhee for Betty. I'd love to hear her sing some of this score and she has a look that can easily fit the old Hollywood style.

Patrick Stewart as Max is a no-brainer, even if they have to dub some of the singing.

I'd love to see The Muppets version of Sunset Blvd. Miss Piggy would be stunning as Norma. "Eat your heart out Ms Close!"
