I'm a little worried about this casting desicion.......I mean, don't get me wrong, I've loved Sutton in everything else.....but this casting? I don't think it'll last.....

Let's drag Anything Goes into the 21st century and cast Christopher Walken as Reno!

Muscle already has his ticket for Ishtar the Musical, I bet.
I have an orchestra ticket available for the Saturday matinee, August 7, 2011. I already have plans...
To me this is just BAD casting. I love Sutton Foster like the next, but no where in her do I see (or anyone around me for that matter) the mature sex appeal needed for this role.
Personally I think she shoud play Bonnie, or Hope Especially with Hope, her quirky girl next door style could bring a really funny awkward life to an otherwise dull character.

All they need is for John Stamos to play Billy Crocker and Regis Philbin to be Moonface Mullen for this production to really soar.
I'm not AS big a Sutton fan as most people here. I enjoyed her in Drowsy Chaperone and Shrek. But in everything else, I just found her so-so. She's a great performer, but she's kind of always the same and doesn't ever bring much new to any of her characters. And I agree, this is just horrible casting. Everytime she's cast, it just seems like she's the go to one when they can't think of anyone famous for these roles. She's the new default leading lady. That being said, I do love her solo cd, Wish. So, I dunno. Lol

Does any one know if Roundabout will offer discounted prices for the first four previews?
It's too early to tell, but I have a feeling discounts will be offered for this show.
Anything Goes is a fun show. Pity they cast Sutton in it.
I know nothing about this musical, but not sure why everyone is saying that Sutton will suck in it, even when the show hasn't even opened.
That may be why you don't know why everyone is saying she's gonna suck. Do your research on the show and you'll see, she's really not right for the part. Ethel Merman, Patti LuPone and...Sutton Foster?
I can't wait!!!

Okay, I have my own doubts about Sutton in the role...but sometimes left field casting works and shows a hidden/disguised talent in a performer we couldn't even imagine. Doesn't happen a lot, but when it does, its always way more exciting than a proper casting living up to expectations. Part of the magic of theatre is surprise..,
Now, having said that, I may wait to hear how she is before I fork over my cash..though Donnell IS awfully pretty....

I think she's completely awful for the role, and a little off topic but I never thought she was too good looking but I think she looks gorgeous in the promo photos

I'm curious to hear about the Anything Goes performance you saw that enabled you to determine she was awful for the role. Last thing I heard was that this show did not open yet.
(I'm not saying she'll be good or bad but it is just a pet peeve of mine when people have some judgment about a performance that they haven't even seen yet.)
