It seems like rehearsal footage since there's no applause. This might be from tech as it seems like at one point the spot goes down on Sutton. This might explain the marked lack of energy.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
It does look like that footage is from a low energy rehearsal which is a shame because the show itself is likely the opposite of what we're seeing in those clips.

Wouldn’t it be something if the production made a transfer to a west end house for an open run with Stephanie J Block as Reno, because Sutton would have to leave to do the Music Man.
anyone know how well this is selling?

Previews have been selling out. I guess if it (as it should) gets rave reviews- bookings will go through the roof.
jusging by the casts instagrams- they’ve filmed this media footage today in between rehearsals and previews so no wonder they if they are exhausted. There is so certainly no lack of energy when you watch the actual show.
Speaking of today’s footage, I find it weird they only released Anything Goes and You’re The Top. You’d think if they only put out two of them they might had Blow Gabriel Blow or Friendship in place.

There is a British ‘name’ with that level of dance skill
There are certainly incredibly talented British performers who could play the role wonderfully but nobody with real selling power. There isn’t a star with TV recognition who could pull this off. They may decide to transfer with the title being the star and rely on people like Robert Lyndsay and Felicity Kendall to sell the extra.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels had a fairly healthy run and Lyndsay was the main draw, Samantha Bond added a little selling power also but here we have Kendall & Willmot (the latter is contracted to return to Prince of Egypt)

Obviously not straight away but unfortunately the fate of many shows is unknown so a theatre could become free-which would be very sad for the show housing it at present.
I must say though, the British cast are weak. It also shows up the weaknesses in Marshall’s direction. The choreography remains lovely (if low energy) but some of the book scenes are just deadly and the cast have not been given a firm enough hand. Sutton is wonderful but her energy is pitched lower than in New York to compensate. It would be cruel to be too specific but a couple of the British leads are truly appalling
I mean from everything I see and hear it seems like a solid cast, but much weaker than the fantastic Broadway one a decade ago, particularly Samuel Edwards and Nicole-Lily Baisden. The big exception of this seems to be Robert Lindsay who’s been getting a lot of love. Contrast that with Joel Grey, who’s of course a legend and had his fun and charming moments, but was arguably too old to play Moonface and was at times awkward. To a lesser extent, looks like Carley Mercedes Dyer is more of a standout than Jessica Stone, who was the most forgettable Broadway principle.

Robert Lindsay and Carly Mercedes Dyer are WAYYYY better than Joel Grey and whoever played Erma on Broadway. Agreed though that Samuel Edwards is weak as Billy. the ensemble are fabulous though.
Joel Grey was charming but he was indeed a tad old. I never quite believed he actually knew where he was at any given moment.
Robert Lyndsay has the right energy and inherent timing but the performance is unshaped and messy. It needs a stronger Director with a firmer hand and a better grasp of comedy and he could be magnificent
