Most recently, Roundabout had been talking to Sherie Rene Scott about doing ANYTHING GOES, but she chose to commit to WOMEN ON THE VERGE for the fall instead. Foster seems
so miscast, but then again... it's Roundabout.
To her credit, this would really by her first
true lead in a "song-and-dance" musical since THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE. Almost all of her other roles in the past few years have either been in ensemble pieces or as secondary love interests to stronger male characters. Had she done LEAP OF FAITH, she'd be right back in the latter circumstance.
Here's hoping she's able to flex her muscle a bit and carry a show again.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
