Depends which version of the script they end up using. If it's the '88 Lincoln Center version then no, since Bonnie became Erma, and "The Heaven Hop" was removed.

^ I don't think Brooks A. is a good choice for Moonface, but I have to disagree that all he can play is an over-the-top gay man. He was an excellent Georg opposite Kate Baldwin's Amalia in She Loves Me.

Sutton Foster as Reno Sweeney? Please. Bad casting. Too bad Sherie went in another direction...she would have been wonderful!

I'd love to see Sara Ramirez as Reno. Her "Blow Gabriel, Blow" would be ridiculous.

I think Walter Bobbie would make an amazing Moonface!

Matthew Morrison is a good choice for Billy, how about Max von Essen or Jason Daniely? Is Daniely too old opposite Foster? Or, pair up Sutton and Gavin Creel again... Steven Pasquale would be perfection though.

Christopher Fitzgerald has to get back on Broadway as soon as possible, if not in ANYTHING GOES then in something else. He was so wonderful in this season's FINIAN'S RAINBOW with his comic delivery of his two songs nicely done. Fitzgerald has tremendous stage presence and stole whatever scene he was in. He deserves a Tony nomination.

PalJoey, thanks for the great clip of Ethel with the elephants; I had never seen that before.

I have never seen Sutton Foster in anything, but she looks right for the part and her admirers make a convincing argument.

Resorting to rivivals?

Is it really a stigma?

Kristin Chenoweth, Patti LuPone, Marin Mazzie, Angela Landsbury (and many more) bounced back and forth between rivivals, and originals and even off-broadway, regionals, & national tours during their careers and didn't hurt their image.

If every hot theatre actor today steered clear of revivals, they would have very few options available to them in NY.

And that is the state of the art.

I think Sutton will bring her own talents to Reno. Not Merman's or LuPone's.

I'd love to see Rachel York's take on the role. She got RAVE reviews when she played Reno at Reprise! a few years ago.

I think with Foster in the role you will need a younger Moonface too - they are suppoosed to be buddies. Maybe someone like Burstein - at the oldest.

She would not be my first choice, but I can see it. After all, I was shocked when I saw footage of Sutton offstage during her Millie days. I loved finding out that she was an everyday dork.

She is an actress. She ACTS. If this casting rumor is true, I would like to see the show. I hope she is wonderful.

I think most of you have this all wrong. Yes, Sutton Foster is on the dorky side in PERSON, in interviews, etc, but are you all forgetting Millie and Drowsy Chaperone..she was drop dead gorgeous-sexy, sassy, unlike the girl next door that she is in person because...guess what?...she's an ACTOR...this is what she does. It's always going to be a challenge, and hopefully it is because that's what acting is all about. I seriously don't understand why people someone imagine Sutton to get up there in Anything Goes with her jeans, no make up and long straight hair...NO. It's theatre, make believe, and please youtube Millie's or Drowsy's Tony performance to remind yourself. And listen to that belt.

I saw Sutton Foster perform tonight in Los Angeles, a wonderful concert at the Kirk Douglas. She signed CDs in the lobby for a full hour after the show - incredibly generous.

I asked if she could talk about the probability of performing in ANYTHING GOES. She smiled and shook her head.

When I suggested that a lot of people would be happy if this happened, she replied, "I'm trying!"

"I'm Trying!"? So, I guess there IS something to this rumor. That makes me happy.

I am growing to this idea, and would love to see it happen! I've been itching for her to do another big dance role like Millie was, and I am excited that there is a tap number! I know that she would be amazing as Reno!

I'm excited for her next show to be revealed! Although I have a feeling we will be waiting a while, but whatever it is, I know it will be amazing!
