Sutton Foster to star in Roundabout's Anything Goes? Apr 30 2010, 09:08:14 PM
I think most of you have this all wrong. Yes, Sutton Foster is on the dorky side in PERSON, in interviews, etc, but are you all forgetting Millie and Drowsy Chaperone..she was drop dead gorgeous-sexy, sassy, unlike the girl next door that she is in person because...guess what?...she's an ACTOR...this is what she does. It's always going to be a challenge, and hopefully it is because that's what acting is all about. I seriously don't understand why people someone imagine Sutton to get up

All About Me - Review! Feb 27 2010, 09:25:35 PM
Hello Ladies and Gents, I attended a lovely preview for All Aboout Me at the new (and fabulous) Henry Miller's Theatre this afternoon. Have to say, if you haven't been to the theatre itself, that is a reason to go see this show, but the show is quite entertaining and comical. I especially liked the brilliant tune "The Dingo Ate My Baby" and viewing Dame Edna rap out towards the middle of the show.It is 90 minutes and if you are a Michael Feinstein fan and love a good American Songbook r

re: South Pacific Revisited - 8/1 Aug 4 2009, 11:18:22 AM
Beautiful production. I hope it will be around for a while-it truly is perfection. It makes me want to take a trip to the South Pacific and fall in love! Laura truly is a stand out in this cast and hope she can maybe do an original show soon. She's just fantastic to watch

South Pacific Revisited - 8/1 Aug 3 2009, 01:19:20 PM
So I went to revisit South Pacific at LCT this Saturday afternoon because I wanted to see Kelli's replacement, Laura Osnes. I get to the theatre and there is an insert - William Michals will be playing Emile. Bummer. Then that beautiful orchestra started and I got lost in the beauty of the show, the shadows of the palms behind the scrim, the romantic and lush sound. At first sight, Laura struck me as a pro, smirking and bright eyed as Nellie - not anywhere near the reality tv star I feared

re: Karen Olivo Out of 'West Side Story' Tonight Jun 13 2009, 08:02:23 PM
Shameful isn't even the word for the number of understudies out this week. I went on Friday night and people were literally becoming physically ill in the lobby because Karen (and about 10 others) were out. They actually had to put a full page insert with all of the cast changes in it because there would have been like 11 little slips in it. Totally discgusted by the absence of these people after the Tony's - especially Karen Olivo who has been SEEN at bars all week long!! CD signings, interview

re: Tony loser with most legitimate gripe Jun 8 2009, 06:57:14 PM
I think, Jane Fonda for 33 Variations and also 33 Variations itself. I found God of Carnage to be a loud melodrama full of screeching and screaming, and I don't see any form of range in Marcia's performance-nothing that stood out. Jane's performance in 33 was riveting from start to finish, as she slowly lost control of her own body. Brilliantly acted, and the play was just wonderful. I think, unfortunatly, people have not forgiven Jane for what she did back in the day, and do not care to appreci

re: The Sotry Of My Life to close February 22- Officially. Feb 21 2009, 04:16:57 PM
Too bad. I feel bad for Chase as well. I wonder if he will ever have a hit-the problem is that these tiny, 2-7 cast member shows rarely do well on Broadway-would possibly have been a different story if it was off-broadway. I wonder how long it will be until we get another Myspace rant from him...if only he learned after doing the intimate High Fidelity.

Bernadette : Lupone Gypsy Dec 21 2008, 04:29:26 PM
Wondering how poor Bernadette feels about the success of the recent Gypsy. Does anyone know if she has seen Patti do it? I imagine it would be pretty awkward for her, since the show was mounted in '03-'04. I loved Bernadette in the role, and also loved Sam's direction. I am equally impressed with the current Gypsy as well. Any thoughts on Bernadette's feelings regarding Lupone Gypsy?

re: Patti's Turn Dec 15 2008, 01:30:08 PM
I think Patti was probably OK about it. It has been a great, wonderful run, especially in the middle of this economic crisis and after being revived only 5 years ago. I also know that she is exhausted and would enjoy some time to rest. It's been a great run! I am not sure there will every be a production of Gypsy that is quite this thrilling. Congrats to all involved!

re: When Phantom had 2 tours... Aug 7 2008, 02:38:59 PM
Hmm..Yeah I just saw it in NYC too and really truly did not find much of a difference...the chandelier in the tour seems like same size. Not sure aboutt he lights going all around the back, didnt seem to notice. Only thing I noticed was the use of trap doors at the start of POTO and the roof and also the lightning at the end of All I Ask of You reprise...on broadway however i noticed that the phantom did not fall into a trap this at the end of masquarade (as i have seen him go down in the past on

When Phantom had 2 tours... Aug 6 2008, 11:19:09 PM
I have often wondered that when phantom had two tours out, was one smaller? I think it can only play large houses, and i remember seeing both the 2nd and 3rd national tour but could not tell the difference a the time. I know the one and only us national tour now looks just like the broadway company so..? just curious...does any one know the answer to this or would like to comment..i know the wicked 2nd national is said to be scaled back a bit..
