Sutton Who?

Posted: 4/25/06 at 5:23pmOk, here's the thing. I am absolutely frustrated right now, simply because on this message board the name "Sutton Foster" constantly pops up, and I haven't the slightest idea who she is. Could anybody provide some insight, and perhaps a link to her singing one of her songs?

She won the '02 Tony Award for her performance as Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie.
She recently played Jo March in the Broadway run of the Little Women musical and is currently tearing it up in The Drowsy Chaperone.

Try using Google.
She won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for Thoroughly Modern Millie.
She played Jo March in the Little Women Musical on Broadway.
And she is currently in the Drowsy Chaperone.
She is the sister to Hunter Foster who is married to Jen Cody.

Oops! Almost forgot that Google existed for a minute. Thanks!
Update: Wow! I just listened to her renditon of "On My Own" and am about to listen to "Gimme Gimme". She has a gorgeous voice, easily my third favorite Eponine. Now, to see how she does in "Thouroughly Modern Millie".

re: Sutton Who?#7
Posted: 4/25/06 at 6:18pmLol, I downloaded the song around last fall cause I love loud company numbers and totally knew I recognized the voice and IBDB'd it and saw she was in the ensemble. Her line is utterly laughable, but its so funny cause look where she went from there.

Posted: 4/25/06 at 6:56pmOh wow I didn't know she was Hunter Fosters sister. I saw him in the Producers. That's one talented family.

Posted: 4/25/06 at 10:09pmNot only is she Hunter's sister, she's engaged to Christian Borle! She was also Sandy in the Grease revival for awhile, as well as in Annie on Broadway...

re: Sutton Who?#15
Posted: 4/26/06 at 12:53amCan we just give her a special Tony this year for her unrelenting perfection onstage annually? Shes just perfect: looks, voice, talent, everything. Plus shes so sweet and her family kicks ass. Hunter, Jen, Christian and her would make a sick quartet.

There needs to be an original and amazing musical for Sutton, Hunter, Jen, and Christian to all be in together!
WOULD WE ALL NOT GO SEE IT AND CRY!!!?

Don't forget to add in the amazing 42nd Street-style backstage story that, while in previews for the world premiere in Seattle, the lead in "Millie" had to be replaced, literally, by a girl in the chorus and they picked Sutton (or something like that, it was all the buzz back then). All I can think of is that line in "Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom" -- "You have chosen......... wisely...."
Saw her in Millie. The best performance by a woman on Broadway in decades. She's the real deal.

Can we just give her a special Tony this year for her unrelenting perfection onstage annually?
Yes, we can. Oh wait- I don't think I have the power to do that. Oh well. Sutton is the most amazing, solid performer. When she's onstage, you can't take your eyes off her. True star quality.

Posted: 4/27/06 at 1:45amJust go to Youtube.com. Type in "Sutton Foster Gimme Gimme" and watch her at work. Amazing. It's like watching one of the great classical pianists or violinists at the very top of their game. This woman is in complete control of her instrument. And what a sound.....

She also kicks ass singing "If I Don't Have You" from GREASE (she was Sandy for 3 weeks in the recent revival).

Posted: 4/30/06 at 1:32pmGiven that Sutton is a "Broadway Baby," I'm a little surprised that she is apparently skipping the stage door on a regular basis (especially since it sounds like almost everyone else in the cast is doing it). I hope that she starts to go after the show opens.
