I just don't think it's Patina's year. Any other year, she would win, but it is totally Sutton's year!

Also, I wonder how Patti feels about Laura winning the Featured Actress award and how she'll feel when Laura takes home her second Tony...will she be pissed?? That IS the question!

No. Patti will not be "pissed" at her dear friend for winning a TONY. so what if they were in the sane show together.

I'm pretty sure Patti's next book will have at least a chapter dedicated to how pissed she is at Laura.

You're right. Two chapters is more like it.

Patti is always the first person to praise Laura and I feel that she'd be extremely happy for her if she won the Tony.

As much as I want it to be Patina, it seems like they're going to go the safe, more traditional route and award Sutton.

As for LuPone, if she feels any sort of jealousy or annoyance at Benanti winning over her, she'll never express it publicly. She and Benanti are too close.

I don't think Patina's performance was Tony worthy. Just my opinion.

Last year Montego Glover and Catherine Zeta Jones tied at both the Outer Critics Circle Awards and Drama Desk Awards, but Zeta-Jones won the Tony. I had a good feeling that Zeta-Jones was going to win, but I think the vote must've been close.

How is Patina any less traditional or safe than Foster?

Sorry, I'm going to have to disagree with the OP--Miller definitely deserves this one.

If Elle Wood can beat the Nun across the pond,
I'm thinking Reno Sweeney can beat her here in Ole' Manhattan.
Sometimes it's the luck of the role.

I like Patina, but in terms of her Tony chances, Sutton smokes her. I saw the final dress for Sister Act, and wanted to leave halfway through Act I. Whereas I didn't want Anything Goes to end. I went in to that show with quite a few reservations, as I am a LuPonatic, but Sutton won me over in her very first scene. The Tony will go to her, I'm sure.

Patina lost the Olivier to Samantha Spiro for Hello, Dolly! Elena Roger won the year before and Sheridan Smith won this year.

I am sensing a lot of sarcasm in this thread not being picked up.

I think either them could get it, and would be happy if either them won.

This thread is a little racist in tone. Saying things like "safer, more traditional" can be perceived as a racial negative, in tone.

I am hoping that Patina Miller will win for her wonderful work on Sister Act.

Sutton Foster is the trendy popular one but I always think outside the box in a broader vision mindset.

But this thread has some racial undertones to the thread topic of discussion.

Sutton won her tony for a breakout rise from the chorus role.

Patina is nominated for a breakout, rise from the chorus role.. I think Patina could take this
