Swenson, Cavenaugh, and Sheldon to star in PRISCILLA?

I didn't realize Oliver Thornton was in this in London...what a looker.

He's not only in it... he OWNS the show. He gets far and away the loudest applause and a huge standing ovation at the curtain call. He commands the stage better than just about anyone his age could.

That's really exciting about Jessica Phillips, but assuming she plays Tick's (Will Swenson's) ex-wife, she doesn't sing at all, which is sad. Unless she's going to be one of the three Divas... but I think she's a few years too old for that.

I think Cavenaugh is talented. He's just boring as hell. Watching him in nearly everything I've seen him in thus far has been like watching paint dry.

And although I know next to nothing about this show, it makes no sense that it would go into the Richard Rodgers what with the HEIGHTS movie being made this summer.

bjh2114, Marion (the character of Tick's ex-wife) sings "Boogie Wonderland" in the show.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

The role of Marion is so small and the 2 Marions in London are completely underused... Amy Field & Yvette Robinson. But I'm glad they're in the show! I agree that Oliver should transfer with Tony to Broadway... they both OWN the stage. When awhile ago someone said Nick Adams will be in Priscilla I initially thought he'll be Felicia... I personally think he looks closer to Felicia than Matt. But hey... can't really judge before we see it onstage!
I wonder who'll be Bob, Miss Understanding and the Divas!!!

I can't stand Matt Cavenaugh's voice. He's like sex on a stage but he is a really annoying singer, and a decent actor. He was the worst part of West Side Story and the ONLY bad part of Gray Gardens.

That's the thing about him. I actually think he's VERY talented, but has yet to find a role to showcase his talents. He is always egregiously miscast (other than in Grey Gardens, where I thought he was wonderful). But this would be another bad role for him.

I actually think Nick Adams look like one of the current London cast member Callum Nicol! You guys think they'll keep the Kylie reference on Broadway? Or did I hear they'll be using Cher or Madonna?

Well unless they want to rewrite the Kylie medley at the end... I assume they'll keep it. She's popular in Australia. The show is from and about Australia. My guess is they'll keep it. They might add in a Cher/Madonna joke, but I'm sure Kylie stays.

If the original Australian director (who also directed the show in London) is in charge of the Broadway production and he cast the actors playing Tick and Felicia through the traditional audition process, surely he would know who the best people available are to play these roles?

Or is that a quaint old-fashioned assumption?

Max von Essen (who was terrific in a drag role in JERRY SPRINGER: The Opera) would have been another inspired choice for Felicia.

That being said, I'm open to the idea of Cavenaugh surprising everyone and playing against type. I've heard the audition process for the show has been extremely difficult, so if he truly was able to land the role, he's definitely had to go through the ringer to do so.
