the wonka musical movie’s release date was moved from march 2023 to december 2023. i hope this means that they won’t delay the color purple’s release date

my guess is was always going to be Cynthia or Fantasia! Oprah talked about casting Tasia over a decade ago. Both of them are fab.

a child actor who was supposed to play one of mister’s kids caught heat stroke on set yesterday and felt so sick. sadly she has been fired from the movie and her character has been cut. the child’s mother posted it on her instagram.

my friend is an extra in the movie and he told me that fantasia will be singing live. she filmed i’m here a few weeks ago. my friend said that she gave such a powerful and emotional performance. it’s a dark scene with background holding lanterns as she sings the song. she had to do it over and over again in cold weather

I've been playing her performance of I'm Here on YouTube repeatedly from when she was on Broadway. She's so powerful.

here is what taraji p henson said about the movie in a recent interview:
"it's magical, that's the only way i can put it. blitz's vision is just so majestic and i don't know if i've ever seen black people look so beautiful in a time when it wasn't beautiful for black people, there's still beauty there and joy. it's not so heavy and depressed and weighing on the trauma, you know, it's really about how miraculously black people can find joy even in the darkest places. “i have goosebumps just thinking about the music and what fatima has done with this choreography, i don't think you guys are ready. you certainly aren't prepared to hear me sing the way i'm singing in this 'cause every time i hear myself, i'm shocked over and over again. like, that's me!"
i can’t wait to see to taraji p henson’s performance as shug. she is definitely perfect for this role and she will prove everyone wrong.

I can just picture Barbara Cook having a premiere of the movie wherever she is with all of her friends on the other side. She ADORED Fantasia.
I can't wait to see the first trailer.
