Might just be a cameo.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I wish, but that's not going to happen. Post Production isn't going to take THAT long that the December Date was chosen logistically. They want it to be an Awards contender and December is the best time for that to happen because it's right before the cut off and maintains its freshness in voters minds.

A bit alarming a musical like this...was filmed in less than 2 weeks.

There was already test screening almost exactly a month ago in NYC on 9/23- have a friend who was there. Said they really enjoyed it!
Also asked them some of the questions that have come up in this thread and they confirmed Whoopi is in the movie in a very small cameo (practically blind and you'll miss it) and the church ladies have been cut save for the opening number.

He said all of the performances were great across the board- standout by far though was Danielle Brooks who he said he could very well see in Oscar contention. Not surprising to me- she was brilliant in the role on Broadway too

I attended in ny too and loved it. Also would be shocked if it was filmed in less than a month. It's everything that jazzmans blues wasnt. Not in your face about being a musical. Won't erase the original but better like new west side story

Well, all of Tyler Perry's movies for the last almost decade, sure. This was filed from March to July.

This movie is going to sit in the can complete for a while. They want it to be an awards contender, but understandably couldn't have it complete for November/December Awards season so they're going hold it until next awards season. I'm sure it'll be "done" by early next year.
