the costumes are spot on. I absolutely love them. to me, the best costumes are addaperle, glinda, the gatekeeper, scarecrow, tin man, and the lion.

Really! Is this is what is going to be the annual tradition? First a lot of excitement about NBC choice, then when the broadcast date approaches negative comments start piling in. Exactly what happened last year and the year before.
I don't know whose behind the costume designs, but as much as I think that both fairies looks nice, I hate the scarecrow and The Wiz costume. Queen Latifah looks like she is a woman dressed as a man. I still stand to what I have said before that the only thing I am looking forward too is the rating of viewers. Nothing about the production itself really appeals to me.

I like Adaperle and Aunt Em. Glinda's costume looks like a giant glittery hairball. I think I would like it better if it were red (a nod to L. Frank Baum's book and the appropriate color for her land).

Addaperle. The Gatekeeper and Aunt Em have nice looking costumes. Glinda's looks like she's wearing shredded wheat, so I'm not feeling hers.

I agree with something bestbars said, that the show would have looked much better if they used both costume and set designs inspired by African heritage. In fact, wouldn't have that been great? I honestly can picture it and hope that at least some Broadway Revival in the near future would embrace the idea.
Its a pity that they are toying with the piece tough. Just like sound of music they should have embraced the original material and given us that.

Says the one who, up until two weeks ago, insisted that Born the Day Before Yesterday was absolutely going to be in this production. If teddy1996 was hired by NBC they sure didn't leave him with many facts. He doesn't know anything, he is making random guesses based on tidbits he reads on the internet, and hoping they turn out to be true. It reminds me a lot of another poster here.

is anyone else curious as to why Mary J. Blige isn't featured in any of these photos/promos? Is her Eviline costume going to be some kind of big reveal or something? She's the only principle who hasn't appeared, and usually it's the "Great and Powerful Oz" who's shrouded in mystery, not the Wicked Witch. Not mad, merely curious. Everyone else looks fabulous!

Because this instagram account named the_wiz_musical told me that born on the day before yesterday was going to be in it since elijah and the dancers were rehearsing it in one of the rehearsal vids a month ago. Yes she is. She started this week. And her photos should be released sometime this week. Kenny leon said that she is amazing in rehearsals. And shanice says that she is killing it and we aren't going to be ready for her.
