NEWSFLASH: Jennifer Hudson is THIRTY THREE YEARS OLD.
There is no way in hell they are casting a 33 year old singer in the role of Dorothy, unless of course they are doing the movie version and making Dorothy a 20-ish schoolteacher from Harlem.
To say nothing of the fact that she will be UNAVAILABLE because of the revival of The Color Purple that she's committed to.

Great.
Hence the reason I added Quvenzhane Wallis and Zendaya.
And my personal feeling is that they would err on the side of star power, particularly if they already had a prescedent (good or not) for making an older Dorothy.

I have a feeling they will hold a nation wide search for the role of Dorthy and film it as a reality show for tv just like they did for Annie and Grease. I am sure they will market it as and introducing ....... as Dorthy. The other roles will be cast with big stars.

Please Raven!
Not as Dorothy, though. Addaperle, however, is perfect for Raven.

Wallis can't sing. What she did in Annie was not singing. She needs to be kept far away from this.

^ I will second and third that. Cute girl, good acting chops, bad singer.
I wouldn't mind Raven as Dorothy, but Adapperle would let her show off her impeccable timing and comedic chops more. Plus, I'm still wanting to see Janelle Monáe sing Home.

Rachel Crow who is now 17 from Season 1 of American X-Factor as Dorothy.

Raven would be superb as Addapearle (let's hope they don't rename her ms.one.) What about Frenchie Davis? I hope there are a lot of acrobatics in he's the wiz!
Jennifer Holliday would be great as Evilene.
is it going to stay true to the broadway version or (horrors) the movie one??
"Wallis can't sing. What she did in Annie was not singing. She needs to be kept far away from this. "
God YES!!!!!
Wasn't the film seen as a colossal failure? I'm sure this will be more like the Broadway show. No 30 year old dorothys up in dis joint.

Playbill.com made some good casting suggestions
I like the idea of Nikki M James as Dorothy!
I'd love it if they'd just cast a complete unknown for the Broadway revival. Broadway hardly ever makes stars anymore. Find the biggest brightest 18 year old celeb for the NBC show if you want, but an unknown with star power would be very exciting.
Not crazy about the artwork. It's kinda messy and crowded. The logo itself is fine, if a little "Tiny Toons" for me.
Sure it's not final artwork. remember we had that one for Peter Pan with the rainbow and the ship before the poster with Williams and Walken?
I saw the original Wiz on Broadway and it was one of the worst shows I have ever seen on Broadway. I love the original cast album... or at least much of it, but the book is awful. The original production was cheesy looking. The music is really dated. I think this is going to be another stinker... like Peter Pan was last Christmas.
I think we can all agree this is what they're going for.
