If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

poor kids. I have been in some pretty bad versions of good shows though and, like me, they look like they know how horrible it is. This is what Karen Olivio must feel like.

With only one week of rehearsals you need to put something on that best showcases their talents, not humiliate them.

It depresses me more than I can ever express when people here post videos from bad high school productions and they end up being a million times better than anything my high school ever did. Some of them seem to actually have big budgets. Those are the most depressing. We put on shows with next to no funding at all which you'd think would still have some heart with talented actors, but no...

Both of those are awful for different reasons... the first has absolutely no energy! I have directed musicals for high schools before and I always tell the kids "if you screw up, screw up with energy because everything looks better with energy!"
The second video.... god that choreography is horrendous!! and the costumes as well!! Yeash!!

I don't know anything about licensing, but they're allowed to use the movie version of America?

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

I don't understand the need for the lyric changes in America. They took out the "babies crying" and "bullets flying" but are still doing WSS which is a show that features sex and people being stabbed and shot. Or did they change it so that no one dies?
