If the trend to bring cinema hits to Broadway continues down its dark path, soon they'll be back to reaching into TV shows for new material.
Do you think there is a TV show, past or present, that would make a good musical?
I've got some ideas, but want to hear yours first!

Posted: 5/26/06 at 11:37amWell, there were all those rumors of Rupert Holmes trying to turn "Remember WENN" into a musical. I'd have loved to see that, but I think the project got stalled somewhere.

Remember WENN would be great. I think that about a number of period pieces. Snowy River. Little House on the Prairie. Hogan's Heroes. (But spare me from Dr. Quinn: the Musical).
Personally, I would love to see The Greatest American Hero.

Don't forget that The Jerry Springer Show was made into an opera.
I think MASH would make a great musical. Plenty of material there for several songs.

I knew about Happy Days and Gilligan`s Island (Just because it was mentioned at an award show) NEVER heard of Brady Bunch the musical.
And although it was a comic strip first You`re a Good Man Charlie Brown.
I read about the Apprentic Musical about 2 years ago....weird.
Shrek,Catch Me If You Can,Young Frankenstein,Legally Bloned,The Little Mermaid (Disney),and possibly more that i`m not thinking of are being made into broadway shows.

I like Stewart's idea for Hogan's Heros
Great characterizations. Klink, Shultz, the Brit, the Frenchy, some hotties, and a know it all all-american
An All male cast (except for a fun Helga) whoo-hoo!

"Mama's Family" would be fun
"Saved by the Bell" could be a hit
Seriously, though, has anyone ever produced a musical about "I Love Lucy"? Not the show, per se, but about the life of Lucy and Desi and the show and such??

Posted: 5/26/06 at 8:16pmThe Honeymooners could be made into a good Broadway show. I think it would work better as a straight play though, not a musical.

I think "Remember WENN" would be fantastic. (For the costumes if nothing else!)
I still think a funny, new show (not a re-write of an old one) of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" would be a hoot.
A click for life.

That's So Raven the musical...
Which I am predicting in about 2009...with the way Disney seems to be going. I mean there already is a theme song for the show, which they could use for their opening number. They already have a star, because everyone knows once a Disney channel star becomes a 'popular' actor they have to take on a singing career. I mean who hasn't taken on one except for Shia Le Boeuf who is a fabulous actor by the way in my opinion for his age. They have that Chealsey girl who also sings. The little chubby boy could have like these rap solos. I mean they have a set cast. Orlando Brown could also have a hip hop solo. It will be Hair meets Color Purple meets High School Musical meets Disney needs to be blown up with an H bomb. I mean what more could you ask for?
Oh I know!
Lizzie McGuire the Musical
I don't think I'll go there. Maybe another time.
