They should get Patti, Bernadette, Tyne Daly, Bette Midler, and Angela Lansbury.
ROSE-OFF 2009
It would kill to see that great ensemble host.

I would love Elaine Stritch to host it. Now that would be fun!
They would definitely need a 10 second delay. LOL

Chenoweth deservedly got nominated for her "West Wing" stint, but she's still a name nobody knows. Anyone who thinks that non-Broadway people are KC fans is deluded, I would wager "West Wing" fans don't even know her actual name.
Huh?
Kristin Chenoweth was NOT nominated for her stint on "The West Wing."
She's was on a new primetime TV show called "Pushing Daisies" and was nominated for that this season.
As much as you'd like to attempt to insult me, you just still don't get it.
At least read my post and know what you're talking about before you start dishing out misinformed insults.

Sorry, I had her nominated for the wrong show, I didn't realize she'd been nominated for "Pushing Daisies."
But excuse me, arrogance incarnate, what exactly don't I get? If you mean I didn't "get" which show she got the Emmy nomination for, you're correct, I was mistaken. But I "get" your point, and still totally disagree.
She's NOT a known name outside of theatre aficionados. Again, I'm not saying she'd do a bad hosting job because she's not well-known (I dislike her because she's irritating, not because she's insufficiently famous), but you offered her up as a better candidate than others' suggestions using the reasoning that she's a film star and an Emmy nominee. All I was sayin'.

The fact that Pushing Daisies airs on ABC and the Tonys are on CBS might not make her an attractive host in the eyes of CBS.

You don't GET that she's not a Hollywood has-been, as one might think if they only associated her with her small role on "The West Wing" which went off the air a few seasons ago.
She is NOW on a current TV show that began this past season, and she is up for an Emmy Award for her role on that show this month, making her a CURRENT name in Hollywood and on television.
You obviously aren't aware of her CURRENT gig on television, making her known to television audiences, making her a viable host for an awards show on television.

frogs_fan, Whoopi Goldberg's TV show, "The View," is on ABC, and she was the host on the Tony Awards this past June, on CBS.
So I don't think CBS minds. They just want to get people to watch.

I dont like Kristen Chenoweth that much. She seems obsessed with fame. I think she used Broadway as a steping stone to get to Hollywood. I doubt we will see her on a Broadway stage again. I could be wrong though.

I think we all know that people are going to watch the Tonys because they're the Tonys. No one who wasn't going to watch them anyway is going to watch just because of who the host is.
That said, I think Julie White would be brilliant. And she is known to film and tv audiences, more than some people here seem to realize. Look at IMDB.

Sarah Palin would only be funny if she came out in the american flag bikini with the rifle and did her own redition of "You Can't Get A Man With A Gun"
"No, You Caaan't Get A Man With A..."

*Sigh* Yes, I DO get that she's on a show CURRENTLY on television. But since when does someone being on television mean that they're a big enough name to host an awards show and draw in viewers? I actually adore "Pushing Daisies" (it just slipped my mind that she was nominated for it), but it's not a particularly well-rated show, or one that people round the commonplace office water cooler tend to be familiar with. But your comments are descending into defensive nonsense, so I'm done with the back-and-forth. You win, alright? All hail the ruler of the BWW message boards!
That said, I love the Sarah Palin idea.

Re: Chenoweth's TVQ - Debra Monk has an Emmy and about a million more TV and film credits than KC. She has a recurring role on a current very popular TV series.
But we'd never consider her because she's not well-known enough outside of the theater. Same for Chenoweth. Do people outside of theater fans know her name? Really? I don't know of any.

Seth? He is only good in small doses, would love to see him present, wouldn't wanna see him host a three hour long show for anything.
Kristin Chenoweth is becoming more and more well-known with time. I would say people don't necessarily know her name but they do know her face. Not only did she have a high profile role in THE WEST WING, and earned an Emmy nod for her brilliant comedic turn in PUSHING DAISIES, but she also has done a number of B-movies, and she will be appearing in Reese Witherspoon's upcoming Holiday film FOUR CHRISTMASES. I wouldn't say she could match the star status of a Whoopie Goldberg, Rosie O'Donnell, or Hugh Jackman but she can hold her own. Mostly, I don't think she should host by herself but she would be wonderful with Neil.
If you haven't seen her great chemistry with Neil Patrick Harris, click on this link of the two of them announcing the Emmy nods.

I actually enjoyed this past year's Tonys (though I have to admit anything with performances by Cheyenne, Patti, Laura, Lin-Manuel, etc. is bound to make me happy) a lot so I would love seeing Whoopi back or, if not, perhaps Rosie. If, for whatever combination of reasons, [title of show] isn't nominated, it's kind of my dream that the four co-host, but that's not likely. Awesome, just not likely.
