So if predictions by some are accurate (seems plausible) Hamilton gets 15-16 nominations and a possible 12-13 wins
most nominations ever 15 (The Producers, Billy Elliot) and the most wins ever 12 The producers.
So the morning announcements could make musical theatre "history" for most nominations by a single show
My own prediction is two actors get selected for best supporting actor for hamilton and two for best actor, so Hamilton lands 15 nominations tomorrow and ties the record
For Hamilton wins, i predict 11 wins of 13 possibles with best actor splitting vote and danny burstein winning and cynthia erivo winning for best actress (predict much gnashing of teeth and pulling of hair by Hamilton stalwarts...)
It's nice to see Rachel Tucker getting some credit for her Elpheba in Wicked. No, she's not going to be nominated, but I'll give her this. I had already seen Wicked in a touring production and had no great desire to see it again, especially given the other shows available. But my 16-year-old daughter really wanted to see it on Broadway. So we went. And Tucker was excellent, with a spectacular voice, so good that the failings of the show were magnified when she wasn't on stage. I enjoyed the musical a lot more than I expected because of her.
I'll pass on predictions, but it is fun to have at least a couple of rooting interests since I saw Hamilton and Shuffle Along. I'm not picking the obvious nominees, but the ones where there's some doubt.
They are:
Brandon Victor Dixon in Shuffle - He had the best part of the guys, but he really stood out. I hope he's recognized for a witty, joyous and romantic performance.
Christopher Jackson in Hamilton - He has such a spectacular voice and great stage presence as Washington, and I just love several unheralded moments, like the ending of "Guns and Ships." I hope he isn't overlooked.
Phillipa Soo in Hamilton - I know it's a terribly competitive category, and Soo doesn't have a showy part and isn't required to carry the show. So I'll understand if she's left out. But from "Helpless" near the beginning to the show's conclusion, when she pulls the emotional weight, Soo does everything she's asked as the lead actress in the best musical I've seen in a very long time. It seems wrong to ignore that.
I'm ambivalent about Jonathan Groff, not because he wasn't hilarious in his 10 minutes on stage, but because I don't think he should get in ahead of Dixon, Daveed Diggs (who steals the show for a longer period of time, especially as Jefferson), and Jackson. The latter three originated their parts, which should count for something.
I won't complain at all if the wonderful Adrienne Warren in Shuffle gets a nomination.
Yes, seeing Rachel Tucker in Wicked in London 4 years ago was what sparked my love for theatre in the first place. Glad Broadway audiences are as receptive to her as West End audiences were.
For Hamilton wins, i predict 11 wins of 13 possibles with best actor splitting vote and danny burstein winning and cynthia erivo winning for best actress (predict much gnashing of teeth and pulling of hair by Hamilton stalwarts...)

You do realize, however, that most people here would like to see an Erivo win, right?
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I agree with you, but also think American Psycho wins lighting, She Loves Me wins set design, and Savion Glover wins choreography for Shuffle Along.
I am new here as a commenter but long time reader and enjoyer of forum. I am really nervous this AM. Yes many great shows that I love will get noms. Hamilton,Shuffle etc. I loved American Psycho but realize it's polarizing so my hope there is Benjamin Walker and some design awards.
This years Spring Awakening gave me life. In all these predictions and the experts at Sardi's yesterday .....it feels like it won't make it in. Those talented kids deserve this. This was innovative and beautiful not just another (wonderful) Fiddler!
Someone please tell me that there's a good chance Spring Awakening will be remembered ?
This may have already been said (sorry) but just to confirm, there will be an official thread once the nominations actually come out right? To avoid confusion.
I wrote down the 6-7 names most likely to be nominated in each category, so I could just check the names off as the nominees are announced. Two categories had way more than 7 though: Featured Actor in a Play - 14 names! Featured Actress in a Play - 10 names! Those two categories feel to me the hardest to predict which way the committee of 50 is going to go...
Will they love or hate American Psycho? This is one of the big questions for me with this morning's nominations. Will there be any Spring Awakening love? What will be the biggest "snub" this year? We will know the answers soon! (:
Also, should we expect the announcement to go as it did last year: with the highest-profile small handful of categories being read through at the speed of light for broadcast TV, a short delay to changeover, and then the full nominations reading?
Bill Camp, Ciaran Hands and/or Jim Norton - will they cancel each other out or will one of the Crucible actors make it in to the crowded Featured Actor in a Play category? Will King Charles III only get one acting nomination (Tim Pigott-Smith) or can Richard Goulding make it in? Who will get the fifth Featured Actress in a Musical nomination? Looking forward to finding out the answers! (:
