I still remember leaping out of my seat in the last row of the St. James because the gunshots scared the poop out of me. I wonder if I'd like the show nearly as much if I saw it now, but what really matters is that I loved it then. A fan was born!

Broadway - I think the first would be 42d Street - from 42d Street circa 1983. Same trip also saw Nine and Dreamgirls. But I think 42d Street was first of the three.

First that I was in: You've Got to be Carefully Taught - South Pacific. I do not care that that I was the one singing Dites Moi every night, I fell in love with that song and the role of Cable. I was a complex 8 year old.

For those who thought NEXT TO NORMAL wouldn't have a life outside Broadway, well it's now playing in 4 cities, 9 different countries and has been translated into 6 languages.
"Lemonade" from Babes In Toyland (I really don't know which version of the show though, but not the original, since I don't think "Lemonade" was in that). It was my first regional production musical (operetta, but not really) I saw.
Though if we go more professionally, "The Heat Is On In Saigon" from the second national tour of Miss Saigon in Seattle.
And if we go by first Broadway show on Broadway, "Promises, Promises" from the recent revival. It's taken me about 17 years to get from my very first musical experience to actually going to Broadway.
