I'm ready for the meltdowns. I've got my shelter stocked with my cast recordings, some canned goods and plenty of popcorn.
Let the Tony meltdowns commence!
"You just can't win. Ever. Look at the bright side, at least you are not stuck in First Wives Club: The Musical. That would really suck. "

You know, no matter what happens tonight - no matter who upsets which category, or who didn't win - the feeling I get when I know that it's Tony day is one that's undescribable. It's a day that celebrates what we all LOVE so much! And despite what shows we hated or loved this season, we have to realize that everyone who is nominated (or not for that matter) worked their ass off to try to make the theatre world a better, more entertaining place. And you can't be mad at anyone for that, no matter how much their show "sucked" in your opinion. =)
I wish everyone a very happy Tony Day and will be watching with all of you in a few hours! I'm so excited!
Everyone will get robbed, there is no theater justice, Is this the end of Broadway?, How could X win over X?! , Posters stop having respect for the Tonys for 48 hours, some swear to never watch again...
And once more, here we are!
Listen, I don't take my clothes off for anyone, even if it is "artistic". - JANICE
LPF- I think tonight or tommorow's meltdown will be worse bec. posters will take it personal.. these are their favorite shows and favorite performer. I remember last years' spat between Grey Gardens vs. Spring Awakening and huge upset-upset that Raul did not win...uh! there were some nasty remarks that was posted last year.. that's why I am NOT going to post tonight (too late to get all riled up!) or tommorow!
Again...The Tonys are popularity contest and NO ONE should take it personal unless you are the PRODUCERS! lol!

In the rehearsal thread there were several comments that Sondheim wasn't/won't be there. Does anyone have more info? Did they say something specifically in the rehearsal to indicate he won't be there tonight?
NY1 - is it possible to watch their live feed on their website? I've looked at the site a couple of times and I see where you can view stories, but not a streaming, live feed. Help?
If Patti doesn't win the Tony, the boards will collapse under the weight of all of the angsty theatre queens stomping on them.
And yes, it doesn't seem like Sondheim will be there. In his intro to the "Sunday" performance, Mandy Patinkin rehearsed a speech from Sondheim, and clearly said he "could not be here tonight". So it doesn't seem like he'll be there.
He's obviously making a statement, but about what? Probably the fact that Gypsy and Sunday will lose Best Revival, but that seems kind of petty considering he's getting a f***ing Lifetime Achievement award.

If Miss Patti does not win tonight, which is very unlikely...
Oh.. I would suggest NEVER go to BWW! uh! there's gonna be a reckoning here tonite. lol!
Harris- I think posters in OT are a little more behaved plus everyone knows one another there. The main board is totally sock-puppet infested and there's gonna be more NEW sock puppets tonight. lol!
I think that many posters will be upset with the Best Score winner! ~whoever will be the lucky winner!
If Passing Strange wins the Tonys for BEST MUSICAL tonight.. I wil definitely NOT look at the board..I am sure there will be some hurtful words that will be posted! ~specially coming from people I considered friends here and that's the hardest to look at!
In the Heights- most likely...NOT! bec...everyone is expecting this will win tonight!
Btw- I will be wearing my Scaryotype t-shirt tonight. I almost wore my Xanadu shirt this year, until Passing Strange won me over! I wore Grey Gardens last year..(Drowsy & Piazza - the prior years) I think I am the "jinx".. I should probably not wear that shirt! lol!
If Patti loses, people will be bitchy. If Passing Strange loses Musical or Score, especially to ITH, people will be bitchy. If Little Mermaid or Young Frankenstein wins anything, people will be bitchy. If Xanadu loses Musical or Book, people will be bitchy. If ITH wins Book, people will be bitchy.
And since at least one of those things is bound to happen, I'll probably stay away from here for at least the next day.
Wait, what am I talking about? I live for board wars! I'll be on within five minutes to watch the boards erupt into consuming flames.

Hello. Is there any chance that "Passing Strange" and "In The Heights" will cancel each other out... allowing "Xanadu" to win for Best Musical? Just a thought..... from RC in Austin, Texas
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
