Next Movie Stars you want on Broadway May 11
2025, 08:24:25 PM
I would love to see Octavia Spencer on Broadway, especially in a comedy! I wouldn't be opposed to Kate Hudson or Emily Blunt in a musical. Florence Pugh can sing too, and I think the right vehicle could really show her range. Greta Lee could really make a splash. Joaquin Phoenix, depending on the mode. (I'd hope more HER and CMON CMON than JOKER.)
Television star, but I also can't wait to see if Sheryl Lee Ralph would like to return to Broadway after her run on ABBOTT ELEME

2025 - 2026 Touring Season Apr 27
2025, 10:38:58 AM
Wowza, what a line-up for the Pantages! The Ahmanson had already mentioned & JULIET for this season last year, and I'm assuming WATER FOR ELEPHANTS and THE OUTSIDERS will be part of the season, but not much is left. There's rumors of SUNSET BLVD. doing a Los Angeles run for live capture, but what else could transfer over from New York or London? Any pre-Broadway runs?

Featured Actress in a Musical contenders? Apr 13

Assuming Robyn Hurder is campaigned in Lead, maybe Caroline Bowman if they go for SMASH?

The rest of the category is a toss up. Gypsy could get 3 nominations there, or 0. I would say Leslie Margherita has the most buzz, even though Joy Woods has the proven Tony bait role. Maybe in a thinner category they both get in? And then there's the big question of: will they go

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 12/29/24 Jan 3
2025, 03:59:35 PM
I think, with all three musicals mentioned as frontrunners being smaller and scrappier shows, DEATH BECOMES HER is being underestimated! It's doing surprisingly well at the box office, the winter will be a good test of strength, as will spring with BOOP and SMASH pulling a similar demographic. It got solid reviews, it's splashy and funny, and the leads are pretty universally beloved by the theatre community.

Nicole is taking the week off starting the 7th, and Bowman is only covering for her on the 12th? Does that mean Mandy will be doing the rest of that week, and if so, why?"
I believe Donna Murphy did Bette&#

I wonder if Lea Salonga will sing a holiday song or do a solo in promotion of "Old Friends"?

Audra McDonald-led GYPSY for 2024-2025 Season! Sep 17

If this production does well and outlasts Audra's contract, Da'vine would be a fabulous replacement for a limited run between her Hollywood gigs.

Cabaret stunt casting Apr 13

Soem Sallys that I think would be great in this production: Margaret Qualley, Keke Palmer, Greta Lee, Mia Goth, Carey Mulligan, Meghann Fahey, Vanessa Hudgens, Trace Lysette.
LOVE the suggestion of Rachel Brosnahan!

Show That Have Sat Down Mar 25
2024, 07:40:25 PM
Los Angeles had THE LION KING, THE PRODUCERS (with Jason Alexander and Martin Short), HAMILTON, and WICKED at the Pantages, as well! The Shubert had LES MISERABLES, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, CATS, RAGTIME, and the US premiere of SUNSET BOULEVARD, before it closed in 2002.
Interesting to see the musicals outside of Disney, Drabinsky, and Mackintosh that had sit-down productions!

Show That Have Sat Down Mar 24

Las Vegas has seen many! MAMMA MIA, JERSEY BOYS, LION KING, PHANTOM, AVENUE Q, SPAMALOT HAIRSPRAY, THE PRODUCERS, CHICAGO come to mind pretty quickly! After the success of MAMMA MIA, there was a big burst of shows, most of them cut down to 90 minutes.

Paper Mill Playhouse 2024-2025 Season Mar 24

I think instead of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST or NEWSIES, it's gonna be a Disney revue. I doubt they would do two Disney musicals in one season.

TAMMY FAYE will transfer to Broadway in 2024-2025 Season Mar 23
2024, 07:09:03 PM
Broadway Flash said: "next season will also have Audra, Idina, Kristin, Sutton, Caissie Levy, Ariana Debose, Robyn Hurder, Jasmine Amy Rogers, hopefully Alyse Alan Louis and many many more"
Even 1/3 of that would be exciting, but there's also the big heavy hitters of Nicole Scherzinger, Megan Hilty, and Jennifer Simard too! Overall looking forward to this, a Tammy Faye musical has a lot of potential.

Standing at the Sky's Edge coming to Broadway? Feb 29

A limited run, or a run with a non-profit, could be an option. How would this fare staging-wise at the Beaumont?
