Arthur Laurents can't even find anything (that) mean to say about Phyllis Newman. She truly must be the class act she has always seemed to be.

How the HELL did BE win best book? All he did was repeat the screenplay of the movie. Booo!
I wasn't a giant fan of Billy Elliot, though I acknowledge it's a strong piece. I think Book and Lighting probably should have been awarded elsewhere, though.
A curtain?
It seems that the only person who hates BE more than the people on this board is Laura Benanti.

It seems we should just "the award goes to [insert the name of the show that makes the most money]" and be done with it.

the voters are so stupid and small minded. They've shown that they can't help but be blinded by spectacle and couldn't give a **** about substance.
Not sure if this was mentioned, but look at this picture of Frank Dolce. Did someone post he had an injury? He is wearing a boot. He looks adorable though.

Best Book doesn't rate a prime time award? Someone put a box around that and give it to Arthur Laurents.
That was proven the year TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA beat FOLLIES, Zoneace.
And the year CONTACT beat THE WILD PARTY... or won an award called BEST MUSICAL.

The thing is that Billy is a good show, but it doesn't deserve everything that it's going to get tonight.
I really hope N2N wins best score. But it looks like a Billy sweep.
Well, the awards are FINALLY a trending topic on Twitter. BUT, it's spelled Tony's. Hahaha! Anyone annoyed?

Keean has been going on as Michael so, I guess he does have an injury.
WOW. Laura Benanti just solidified herself as the coolest b*tch on broadway.
SOMEONE WRITE HER A FREAKING SHOW already.
She could do a Audrey Hepburn musical... but, then again, if MARILYN didn't work why should HEPBURN?

I'm loving the tie for Best Orchestrations. If only that were shown on the actual telecast... That makes for great TV!

Phyllis and Adolph never had any kind of falling out with Arthur. He admired Adolph and co-wrote a one-woman show for Phyllis with her. For whatever reason, they were always exempt from his bitchery.
6 Billy Elliot [Lighting, Orchestrations, Scenic, Sound, Choreography, Book]
1 Next to Normal [Orchestrations]
1 Joe Turner's Come and Gone [ Lighting]
1 Mary Stuart [Costume]
1 Shrek the Musical [Costumes]
1 33 Variations [Scenic]
1 Equus [Sound]
So, out of the 12 already given out... BE got 6.

um, not really, it was a tie so BE still won. UNfortunately its going to be the lamest ****ing Tonys ever.
But Billy will not beat The Producers. Still has the potential to tie.

No, BE lost Costumes. It will not sweep.
