How do you figure that? Does that really happen?

It happens a lot. A static-like noise will begin developing about 10 minutes from the end of a CD-R. Ultimately the disc may become unplayable on some computers or CD players. It varies. This can start happening anywhere from a few months to a few years after the recording was made. The general feeling now is that the deterioration is caused by the glue on paper CD labels and/or the ink on the label. I have discovered, in most cases, that that if I copy the CD, the noise disappears on the copy. Not always, but usually. Obviously, I don't put a paper label on the copy but use a Sharpie to write a litte something on the disc. I understand that the problem may not occur is the VERY expensive blank CD-Rs are used, but since learning this I haven't found any of those in stores, but I hear that they are available.
Arkivmusik has the original London Cast of "A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC" but I still cannot find a reasonably priced copy of the LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC RNT production with Judi Dench as Desiree. The cheapest used copy I could find on line was for $150+ shipping. Does anybody have one they can sell me for $30?
Good luck with finding an original copy of the actual CD of ALNM with Judi for anything under $100. I admit, I did bite the bullet and got it on eBay for about $125 with shipping, which was the cheapest I've seen it on eBay in the year and a half I was tracking auctions for this CD on eBay. Though about a month later, one was won for about $105.
I don't regret it though, because out of all the versions of ALNM I have (OBC, OLC on a real CD, RNT revival, and that Jay Records version), the RNT Judi Dench cast is the one I end up listening to the most.
I found my e-mail with the "Arkiv" rumors.
"Expected at iTunes next month, and later on disc through Arkiv: Sony BMG's London cast Hello, Dolly! with Mary Martin, the London cast Cabaret with Judi Dench, the Raul Julia Threepenny Opera, and RCA's studio cast Rose-Marie with Julie Andrews and Giorgio Tozzi."
What's interesting is that Arkiv's releases thus far have all been released on CD format before. But "Hello, Dolly!", "Threepenny", and "Rose Marie" have never been released on CD before, only on vinyl (if I'm not mistaken). So I don't know if it's all true. It would make more sense if someone like DRG (or even Sepia/Flare) was doing these releases, as they have done some vinyl to CD stuff before.
Was doing laundry this evening and in our laundry room we have a box where we put things that we don't want that others may want. The box had some stuff in it this evening and when I looked through it, I found a mint condition CD, store bought copy of Legs Diamond. So I take it the cd is out of print? Am listening to it now and am really enjoying it!!
Legs Diamond is indeed out of print, but really is still readily available if you look around.
I got a sealed copy (albiet, with a hole drilled through the bar code, but mint otherwise) for like $4 on eBay. I think it went out of print quickly because it ended up being a flop, and even "Boy From Oz" didn't revive too much interest in it.
And since we dredged up this thread, on 8/5, Arkiv finally is releasing the London Mary Martin "Hello, Dolly!" (no doubt to coincide with the surprise interest in "Dolly" now that "Wall-e" is out):

No word yet on "Threepenny (Raul Julia)", "Rose Marie" or "Cabaret (Judi Dench)", as I cannot find them on their online catalog
When I looked closer, it is "cut" in the lower rear left hand corner of the case. So it may have been in the discount bin. But it is still in really good shape. I ripped it and put it on my ZUNE immediately. Listened to the whole thing and I really like it! Sorry I "dredged" up this thread, but I was a good boy and did a search instead of starting a new thread!
No worries, uncageg.
It's just that I haven't seen this thread in forever, and I'm surprised someone actually used the "search" feature here successfully (LOL!).
Anyway, I have yet to see/hear/find a copy of "Legs Diamond" that isn't a bargin bin "punch-out", but I'm not too hard up to find one.
That list represents what Encores! was supposed to be all about.

MARY MARTIN'S DOLLY LEVI ON CD?
Yes, please!
I actually have the LP, I got it at a used bookstore for 6 bucks (as opposed to a used record store for 50.) and I *love* Martin's Dolly.
I probably need to get off my ass and get more of these from Arkiv.
