OH ....my....goodness! This guy does a phenomenal interpretation of our Miss Patti!! He must be something like 21 or 22 years of age? I have an inkling that he'll be a musical theatre major. He is awesome. from RC in Austin, Texas

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

This guy's rendition of "By The Sea" hilariously duplicates many of LuPone's vocal mannerisms to a scarily accurate level, but his "Everything's Coming Up Roses" sounds nothing like her.

Where is the heavy vibrato and scoops? If he's specifically immitating the Tony performance like the title says, he's quite a ways off in terms of her vocal approach to this number (he's just throwing in some of her trademark affectations without really doing anything she specifically does here.)

Regardless, quite a hoot!

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I remember his "I Dreamed a Dream" by Daphen Rubin-Vega and it sounded just like her, or atleast a good spoof of it. Seriously, Daphne please no more Les Mis as Fantine.

It's not quite as spot on as "By the Sea", but it's still pretty funny. I wish I had friends like that. I LOVE "I'm Not That Smart". I hope you have someone wonderful to go home to, Michael.

I'm sorry if you guys don't think it's as spot as By the Sea-I just make these videos to entertain. I love Patti and I love her singing and I'm not trying to prove anything with the videos. They're just supposed to be fun. re: The BEST LuPone impersonator...

And CATSNYrevival, that was sweet what you said.

Way to nail the straight-tone into the intense vibrato on the final note, in "Roses".

Fabulous job!

Totally, great work. How old are you? Are you still in high school or in college? Just wondering.... RC in Austin, Texas

These are great. I LOVE the "I'm Not That Smart" video.

"You have two kinds of shows on Broadway – revivals and the same kind of musicals over and over again, all spectacles. You get your tickets for The Lion King a year in advance, and essentially a family... pass on to their children the idea that that's what the theater is – a spectacular musical you see once a year, a stage version of a movie. It has nothing to do with theater at all. It has to do with seeing what is familiar.... I don't think the theatre will die per se, but it's never going to be what it was.... It's a tourist attraction." Stephen Sondheim

I loved "Everything's Coming Up Roses". On "By The Sea" the only version i've heard is Angela's, so I can't say. But "Roses" was scarily spot on.
