The late great Al Hirschfeld once did a series of "bad casting" drawings, including Zero Mostel as Peter Pan, Carol Channing as Lady Macbeth, Jason Robards as Puck, Robert Preston and Sammy Davis Jr. as the Dromio twins in Boys from Syracuse, etc.

More of the Hirschfeld series (done for Playbill as I recall) were Barbra Streisand as Saint Joan and I think Peter Ustinov as King Lear which actually sounds kind of interesting.

Ha! I, for one, would adore seeing Edie McClurg in a dramatic turn as Fraulein Schneider!

And at the rate Renée Fleming is going, I wouldn't put such a stunt past her.

As for the rest, yes, outrageously terrible casting!

Edie McClurg has been popping up as a semi-regular on Stephanie Miller's radio show (syndicated nationally). She's great. try to catch "Mondays with McClurg."
