At St Ann’s Warehouse thru March 24th. Has anyone seen it?
The Hunt is a modern-day parable, a thriller. A quiet teacher faces a devastating accusation against the backdrop of a rural hunting community. Truth is no match for the forces unleashed
I saw it today - fantastic! The entire cast is strong, but Menzies is absolutely magnetic. The pacing is tight - it's 1:40, with no intermission, and the staging was great. I highly, highly recommend it.
Agree. We saw this last night. Very well done- some of the best acting and direction of the season. Go - now.

Forget Broadway, a show like this is why I love living near NYC: a world-class transfer from London that will likely never be seen anywhere else in the world. I loved it.

These are, in fact, the kind of presentations Broadway urgently needs.

Broadway also needed the brilliant t London production of Let The Right One In” that was stunning
I'd like to add a trigger warning for those who haven't seen the film. It's a huge spoiler, so proceed with caution, but I can see it being an issue for a significant number of people:
There's a beautiful dog in the play, and intentional harm is inflicted on it; not the actual dog, of course, but the imagery is somewhat graphic, and very upsetting.
Also, the show has been extended to March 24.

At least this played St. Ann's too. I wish more would transfer to Broadway like they do in the West End.

That Vulture review is pretty negative, and as to be expected from Holdren, has some great lines.
Vincentelli in NYT praises the production design (the set is "the production’s single most fascinating element, and it is used devilishly well in conjunction with Neil Austin’s lighting and Adam Cork’s sound design and composition.") and not much else, calling it out for being heavy-handed: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/25/theater/the-hunt-review.html
Theatermania praises the play and uses its review to criticize the #metoo movement, which may affect one's perspective: https://www.theatermania.com/news/review-in-the-hunt-tobias-menzies-plays-a-man-falsely-accused_1731154/

Juan Ramirez is the most boring and mediocre critic I’ve ever read. It’s shocking that he could get all the way up to the nyt. Makes me think they hired him for diversity rather than his talent. Very sad. Bring back Ben Brantley PLEASE.

Another day, another wildly offensive comment from this trollstain.

I also agree that Ramirez is a pretty terrible critic - but it's not because may be considered a "diversity hire" by some. Most things he writes are completely incorrect to me -and his experience in theater, criticism seem limited seeking to elevate his name with negativity. in most cases, he is opposite the majority - purposefully. HIs taste is also not for me and others I know.
He is especially terrible, but all the critics these days I can't connect to. Ben Brantley was absolutely perfect. We had it so good with him.
Five star.

I think this is my first time in stark disagreement with Holden, yet her writing remains just as admirable. I thought The Hunt was magnificent.

Theres nothing wrong with liking/disliking any critic, or actor, or singer, etc. Stating that someone you dont like must have gotten their job as a "diversity hire" is bigoted and ignorant beyond measure. Broadway Flash keeps showing their own ass--almost daily!--without an iota of self-awareness. Its almost art.

if you google Juan Ramirez and see his pic, he is actually a white hispanic... so what diversity do you speak of?
you just like to post ignorant/insensitive comments.

I saw this in London and thought it was excellent, not flashy, just a proper well-written, thoughtful and well-acted play.
Incidentally I went on press night and the dog actually attended the press night after party and loads of random British celebs were queuing up to take selfies with it. Very cute. The dog seemed to enjoy the attention.
Saw this tonight. Liked it, didn’t love it. Menzies gives a terrific performance. It feels like a quintessential modern British production with the sound effects and running around the stage. I just feel like I’ve seen it a million times now. The way it all got resolved was an easy way out. And we never find out wether he got his job back or not.
