Posted: 11/14/07 at 5:43pmGo Backstage with Ben Fong-Torres (Sundays 7-9AM, repeated 7-9PM, KFRC-FM 106.9) will be devoting an hour to JB news, music, etc. this Sunday 11/18. I understand he's a rabid fan.

Great! Thanks!
Yeah, he is; he wrote the big Four Seasons/Jersey Boys article in The Pink right before the show first opened in SF.
Edited to add:
During the run, cast members made appeals from the stage for donations to benefit local fire victims, and last week, producers hosted 55 firefighters and their wives to see a Saturday matinee. Fire companies from stations in San Diego, Rancho Santa Fe, Spring Valley, Santee, Encinitas and Lemon Grove attended the performance and afterward, the cast members asked the firemen and wives to stand up and be acknowledged by the crowd.

The KFRC show will probably be huge! Ben-Fong is one of the writers that used to work for Rolling Stone Magazine back in the day and is one of the biggest celebrities in the entertainment industries when it comes to his interaction with the stars!
Very objective, and tells it like it is, especially with the Jersey Boys. Wonder how much of a flashback he received after watching Jersey Boys because he probably covered the Four Seasons in one way or another back then.

Half-Italian, if I remember correctly Jersey Boys was nominated for the Bay Area Critic Circle award for best touring production but it went to The Light In The Piazza.
And Broadway3 thanks for telling us about radio show.

I went by the Curran today to check on rush. Just to be sure, since nothing has been announced (I'm scared!). And the lowdown is? That there is no lowdown. Yet. The box office guy (who I'm pretty sure recognized me) said he couldn't see any reason why they wouldn't do rush this time, but that they'd been told nothing official. And to check back Tuesday. Yes, the day of the first preview.
Well, they announced the cast relatively early, so I guess they had to be late with something, right?
Edit: Rush info is on the site now! Nothing has changed.

I got it to work for me. It didn't at first but I reloaded it and it was fine.
And speaking of the holidays. The SF holiday run starts this Tuesday and the cast will be at the tree lighting ceremony at Union Square in SF this Friday @ 6pm.

Boohoo. I bet you all use PCs, huh?
Um, okay, I'll make my reply relevant. You all should check out Bryan McElroy's website, because although it looks like "Baby's First Geocities Site from 1998," the content is hysterical.

I am, looks like the clip is hating on Macs.

This comment had me laughing for a minute.
Since we're posting up links to members of the new cast offical sites, here's another. And unlike Bryan's it doesn't look like "Baby's First Geocities Site from 1998" http://www.michaeljamesscott.com/

KFRC-FM show #1843
Posted: 11/19/07 at 12:25amBen Fong-Torres' show was great, covering all the grounds w/the writers, Frankie V, and making you guess who was singing, original group or Bway cast (hard to tell!). What did you think, MM?
KFRC-FM show #1844
Posted: 11/19/07 at 1:03amI only caught part of the show but what I heard was great. If only KFRC archived some of their show episodes so I could catch the part I missed.

Posted: 11/21/07 at 3:27amOh my goodness. Just got home from the first preview of the SF holiday cast. I don't want to say too much since it's so early, but they're incredible. They work together very well, look so confident on stage...just a joy to watch. Great job all around!

So I was at the show today, and it was nice to see alot of the regulars again and catch up. Since it was the first preview we saw both Des and Serjio at the theater. Des walked through the lobby and just stared at everyone in the rush line as he walked by. He did say a few words at the start of the performance. Basically glad to be back in SF, we love being here, yada yada yada. He announced that Lauren Tartaglia was going on for Julia Khron but he either forgot or could't pronounce Lauren's last name so after a few attemtps to say it, all the regulars said it. Since it was the first preview I won't go into what I thought about the show. But to let every know the Frankie alternate, Joseph Leo Bawarie, is scheduled to go on during Tues and Wed mat, starting Dec. 4th. And they are really milking the holiday engagement thing. They put Santa hats on the guys on the Playbill cover.

I also was at the show, and I brave the firestorm and make a few comments. For the first preview, this cast is in amazing shape. They are much more cohesive than the Chicago cast was in their first few shows, and that's not a slam against the Chicago cast, for those of you sensitive types.
Just a few comments on a few people...
Rick Faugno is a very intense Frankie, and I really like his falsetto. Andrew Rannells has a cute sort of Dennis the Menace all grown up kind of thing going on-- it worked well. Bryan McElroy is doing sort of a larger than life Italian Stallion thing, complete with lots of large gestures, which felt a bit... big to me, but the portrayal makes sense and it will be interesting to see where he takes it. Jeff Leibow is maybe more to the Steve Gouveia side of things, very quiet yet very good at the exasperation.
I really liked Joyce Chittick as Mary. She is tough as nails, with a devil may care bad girl attitude, which gets stripped away to a pathetic cry into her drink when she and Frankie break up. Lauren Tartaglia (on for Julia Krohn) has a lot of nice details and fun expressions in her roles, which was fun to see. Ken Krugman was amusing as Gyp-- he's quite tall and reminded me a bit of Brent Spiner.
Some weird costuming stuff going on (Vegasified?), like the bling bling rappers, who look like they got attacked by a rogue bedazzler. There was a shiny purple coat with fur, and so many random shiny things in general. The usual different fabrics here and there, the most notable of which was giant bows on the Angels, and a new orange dress. Huh.
If anyone really wants to know details about something in particular, that might be arranged. I look forward to seeing this cast settle in.
