As possibly evidenced by my glee at
Black Watch and
War Horse beating out two years worth of musicals when it comes to choreography, I personally enjoy it when movement is brought to the stage in different ways. You may not like the
Spring Awakening choreography yourselves, but what's so bad about rewarding something different that does the job it's supposed to do, and does it so very well? Unless there are any war plays with excellent physicality due this year (why not make it a hat-trick?

), I shall be cheering for
Spring Awakening to win choreography at the Oliviers next year. Even though SOLT have proved unkind to transplanting US theatre directly into the West End, I shall be cheering. :3
And I can't find a
Night Music thread to jack, so I'll just have a mini-diversion and say I liked it very much. It was lovely, and I found it very charming. I didn't want to like Jessie, but I did, the rest of the audience couldn't get enough of Maureen Lipman, and I thought Kaisa Hammarlund was smashing. Her continued association with the Menier is a real reward for audience members. :3 It's nice to see that Trevor Nunn still does know how to direct a musical, and I enjoyed it a whole bunch. :3
