I happy to be part of a community that can admit they were wrong and make things right.
They're additionally going to be dimming the lights on the local plastic recycling plant!!!!
Took them long enough, but really, she would have loved all the attention. Sadly, I cannot be in the city with everyone but I will be thinking of Ms. Rivers and everyone there. Think anyone could post a picture or two here afterward so I can see the tribute?

I'm going to videotape it. I'll upload it later tonight!
I am soooo happy about this and cannot wait to see the video!
>but really, she would have loved all the attention
Perhaps, but the debate is quite offensive and typical of the flippant disregard she faced her entire career. I swear I heard in her web series (Kathy Griffin ep) she MCed the Tonys.
From a great distance--Well done to all--Support & Solidarity--exactly what Joan started all those years ago.

The simultaneous dimming of all the Broadway marquees in honor of the passing of a Prominent Theatre Professional and perhaps the ultimate recognition that a person has achieved a place in theatre history. I'm sorry but Joan Rivers does NOT fall into this category.
And enough people disagree with you that Broadway League reversed their decision and dimmed the lights.
Congrats to Jordan and all who made a difference here. This thread has almost restored my faith in this board.

Joan Rivers was a hateful person who made a living off of demeaning, degrading, and bullying people.
It's sad that you can't tell the difference between a stage persona and the person behind it.

Oh please...she was a terrible person and a bully
When Pal Joey and After Eight are on the same side, you know it has to be for a good reason.
Oh please...she was a terrible person and a bully
That's why the accolades that continue to pour from the entertainment industry are all with enormous respect to her, her career, her charitable work and her being one of the pioneers for women comics and countless other praises.
Not one single negative remark has been uttered by anyone who she has comically attacked in the past and everyone felt honored if she ever said anything nasty about them FOR THE SAKE OF COMEDY!
Watch the highly acclaimed documentary JOAN RIVERS: A PIECE OF WORK. The sequence of her signing all the payroll checks and visiting homebound ailing civilians with her grandson Cooper alongside her will give you a few minutes of insight to the true person that existed offstage.
^ VERY well said!!!
broadwayfever her whole staff LOVED her. No one who ever worked with her has a bad word to say. She was a very kind and decent woman.
And as she pointed out many times she was the "queen of the gays!"
Some over on data lounge are grousing that she was a Republican. WHO CARES? She was very progressive on social issues and attended or performed many a gay wedding. She was on our side.
I miss her.

LOL...oh please. Joan used to bash gays all the time. She was a racist and has been caught many times in her career bashing minorities, gays, etc. Her being a Republican doesn't surprise me at all. She was a natural born bully...she fits in well with the GOP

I got video and will try to upload it to YouTube tomorrow in case this link doesn't work. I put it on Facebook, but not sure if my privacy settings will allow linking to work:

I'll give you an E for effort, but you're far too late to this game to earn any metriculated credit. #TrollProgressReports
iluvtheatertrash, thank you for that link. I couldn't be there so I had been waiting to see video of the moment.
iluvtheatertrash thank you for sharing that wonderful video. It got me all weepy.
broadwayfever we're just going to have to agree to disagree. Joan used SATIRE and HUMOR to expose our foibles. She was a very kind woman and a champion of the gays.
Did I like every single thing she said. NO! And I find that to be the case with most interesting people. Try to see the whole picture of Joan, not just the controversies that the press loved to report.

I'm neutral about this whole thing, but given that so many people have spoken out (including gays, surely), and the dimming happened, why not just let this go? It's done.
She's dead, and you're not.

I hope Jordan's eyes rolled when he read this, too.

I like to think it was my 7 joke posts on the petition that did it.
@ broadwayfever - Joan made fun of EVERYBODY- including Herself. Get over yourself!
