re: The Novello finally has a hit ahead (fingers crossed!)

All plays have been hits at the Novello (RSC/Shadowlands).. its just musicals they seem to ill-fit/ill-produce at the Novello.

Cat on a hot tin roof is one of my favourite plays... but i'm not so sure about this revival for some reason

Thats what I was thinking AG2!
This wasnt a greatly loved production on Broadway and I guess they think /hope these names will fill it for a limited season. Plays always do better in the winter.

'All plays have been hits at the Novello!' mmmmm?
Exclusive!
The Weekend
Look! No Hans!
Last Of The Red Hot Lovers
And Then There Were None
Why Me?

....all of these plays ran less than 3 or 4 months with some just a few weeks.

...and then there was 'No Sex Please, We're British' -1971 to 1983. Least said bout that the better tho!

I saw this on broadway last year when i was over. it was fantastic acting and talent wise, but i'm not sure it worked the way they did it, so i do fear for it over here. especially at somewhere like the novello....

mama were you not a fan of 'no sex please' then?

I hope the names are strong enough... but I dunno, call me Lorraine or a "sandra" from the apprentice, I just have a feeling! Also it was face strong competition from Breakfast at Tiffneys being a hot play ticket.

In terms of all plays being successfull at the novello... i meant since it was called the Novello ... which is odd because when it was called the Strand, musicals actually had healthy runs there!

To all my English theatregoers,

I give you my deepest apology for you having to put up with an all around bad production of Cat On A Hot TIn Roof. It will be gone in only a few months time. If you consider anything to be good in this world, you would be wise to take my advice and stay away from The Novello for the duration of it's run. There is only one redeeming quality about this particular production and that is James Earl Jones, other then thatr it isn't worth your 60 quid.

Once again, this production of this masterpiece is an awful one and it will be gone shortly after opening night.

Sincerely,

Unfortunately this has "early closure" written all over it.

The Novello is too big a theatre for this production. However, the producrs will have to go large to pay the overheads associated with this production.

Personally, I cannot see audiences flocking to this.

It's got a great cast with Adrian Lester and James Earl Jones although I wish they could brought over Anika Noni Rose.

Is the RSC having a London season at a different theatre? I know that King Lear/The Seagull was at The New London so it's possible they could go to a non Mackintosh theatre.

The Novello had a great show... yes, i'm still bitter about SA closing re: The Novello finally has a hit ahead (fingers crossed!) I don't think an Inspector Calls is going to work all that well. No school trips because of when it opens, it's old hat now. With the recession people want to be entertained and as much as i love this play many people i've seen it with find it dull. I just don't think it's the right time to pull this oe out of the bag... why not go for something popular and gritty like 'trainspotting' for a limited run? It wouldn't work all that well but i'd love it lol :)

Then i take it back and hang my head in shame as i did know this! However just annoys me... they couldn't give Spring the summer? Ghastly ghastly dirty dancing (i've decided that's to blame!)
