I believeBill Goldman himself retained the stage rights so his estate can option them to whomever they please."
AH - thanks!!
I'm fine with the Lopezes - but I can't help wondering what Dave Malloy might have done with the piece. Maybe a tad too whimsical for him, but it would be interesting as hell!

So ominous; you make it sound like a kaiju. Godzilla vs Kong vs The Princess Bride Musical.
A reading was held today and the principal cast was as follows, according to Instagram posts.
What a group!!
Andrea Grody was the music director and Telsey/Pat Goodwin did the casting.
I would bet money on Alex Brightman playing a bunch of the one-scene characters from the movie. Vizzini (inconceivable), Miracle Max, the preacher, the Albino, etc.
A cast that is solid but not particularly exciting, at least to me.

It’s a lot more exciting than a lot of workshops of new musicals imo.
But they also probably didn’t have auditions and just called in people they know who could be available for 29 hours this week and largely based it on the archetypes of the movie. So who knows if any would end up in the actual production.
What a boring cast. I hope everyone is different if it actually premieres.
