$9.99 DVD coming in November.
Haven't seen an actual physical release of a stage musical in AGES.

If it was getting a blu-ray release, I would hop on this so fast.
Who saw THIS coming four years ago?

Agreed. But for $9.99, I’ll probably still pick it up. Physical media is slowly dying, so I’ll support releases like this whenever I can.

Is it that much more expensive to also do a Blu Ray release? It just seems that in this day and age, where we're already beginning to market 8k televisions that a DVD only release seems a little cheap, especially as, I assume, the streaming broadcast is most likely in HD and was probably shot at at least the 1080 resolution if not actually in 4k
The streaming version is in 1080. A DVD would be a downgrade.

The target audience for this DVD is Walmart shoppers getting this at the $10 bin... Those who care about the quality will probably stream it.
I'll still buy this to support physical releases, which are extremely rare for Broadway.
Fitting that a musical about a tv show from the 90's is being released on technology from the 90's.

I wonder if this will be the full show without the commercial lead-ins and sound fades (which are in the digital release). I doubt it, though.
There are still people out there without sufficient broadband for streaming. There's nothing that weird or retro about this.

Not to mention DVDs still remain popular. I think the high price of blu-rays have kept many people from switching over completely, even though blu-ray players themselves have come down in price significantly.
