The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart is wonderful

I saw the show last night and was blown away.

Totally understand why it is a New York Times Critic's Pick!

It takes a while to get going but once it does, you cannot turn away...literally as cast members walk amongst the audience.

It's only in New York for eight weeks. Run, don't walk, to get a ticket. A magical night in NYC.

**Fun seeing a masked Julie Benko sitting at a table with Bruce Sussman

Can you tell us more? Is this a "seated" production or more like Sleep No More where you had to follow the action?

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

It’s a seated production in their bar space.

This is high on my list. My sister and I were supposed to see it this weekend but that plan fell through, so then we got last minute tickets to Parade, which then got canceled haha.

Magical is the right word, betty22. From start to finish. What a delicious piece of theater.

And as willep stated, it is indeed a seated production, seated at tables. Though some seats/tables are moved around a bit in the intermission--I mean, the interval... to accommodate some changes to the playing space in the second act.

Everyone is seated around small tables. 2,4, 6 and I think tables of 8.

The tables are used throughout the show in very clever ways leading to a brilliant trick with one table at the end of the show.

I saw the first preview last week. And I agree, it was a delight. Playful, funny, great lighting, great performances. There are audience interactions. You won't be asked to speak, but there's a good chance an actor is going to touch your hair and stuff. Especially if you sit in the center area.

Well, they are tonally different, PRUDENCIA HART being more playful and fun. The one huge difference between the two--SLEEP NO MORE is largely wordless while PRUDENCIA HART relies heavily on language, word play, metaphor and rhyme. That said, they both are blazingly theatrical and tell their stories in unconventional and uniquely compelling ways.

I saw this over the weekend and enjoyed it but I would advise you to pick seats away from the center of the room. Otherwise you're forced to constantly move your drinks/bags/etc off the table while people jump on it. There's also a lot of audience interaction including splashing water on you, throwing paper/popcorn/books, and sitting in your lap and that made me personally very uncomfortable.

This is one of my all-time favorite theatre experiences. I saw it when it was here years ago and often still talk about it. I jumped to buy tickets I saw it was coming back and saw the show last week. Just as good as I remember, with an excellent cast. I can't recommend this enough.

I saw this today and can’t stop thinking about it. A clever, beautiful, strange, funny piece of theatre with an incredible attention to detail from all elements (performance, set, lighting, costume, even the bar!).

If you’re on the fence GO! As long as you don’t pick a brown rectangle table, you won’t have to move your stuff. Being front and center was great at a regular table.
