If you wnat to see something different, then get to the Palace Theatre, London and see this:
Saw this on monday and guess what : I enjoyed it....not saying it was the best thing I've ever seen, but I'm glad I went to see it! Maria Friedman was stunning, as was Martin Creewes, Jill Paice and Angela Christian.....didn't actually think that much of Michael Crawford...he was Ok, but nothing more......Love the set...sitting in the front row of the upper circle it still was impressive!
All in all a quite good show that will run for quite a while I'm sure....and I don't mind....
I thought Monday night's show was cancelled?
Well....it couldn't have been...cause I saw the whole thing from my seat....hehe
...I think it was last week....
I guess. I know they had to cancel one show completely and another half way through because the projections broke.
I think they should have done the same thing Les Mis did a while a go...just do it as a concert....I would have worked...
If it keeps happening, they will have to come up with a B plan, but for now they are fine. The one that they cancelled halfway through almost caused a riot though, as Michael Crawford had only been on for about a minute.
I certainly didn't pay just to see Michael Crawford...and besides he wasn't that good....Maria Friedman was the true star (with the support of two quite amazing american girls in supporting roles)
I like this musical.... but HATED the set! The idea's GREAT, but couldn't they use better pixs than that? And I think that amongst ALL the main characters, the 'stars'= Maria Friedman and Michael Crawford was the worst! Maria did not disappoint me AT ALL, 'cause I have expected her to be bad (sorry, never liked her). But Jill Price, Angela Christian and the cutie Martin Crewes is just FANTASTIC and TOTALLY outshone the 2 'stars'. These three ARE the true stars of the show! Angela Christian and Jill Price... WHAT A VOICE!
Jill was truly great and I thought Angela had the most special voice (so different from when she did Milie) and when she screamed ir gave me shivers!!!And yes Martin is to die for....yum-yum.....
I have already pre-ordered the Original Cast Recording ! Did I do well ? How is the music ?
Take care
I saw WIW on saturday. It was moving, well-acted (Michael Crawford is damn good) and sung with an entertaining story. The set is naseau-inducing at moments--it reminded me of Dracula's non-stop stage shenanigans, albeit much more entertaining. It will come to NYC, no doubt.
The fact that everyone here talks about everything else BUT the music has me a little worried :)
Take care
Maybe because the scenery is so....new (at least for a musical), and perhaps it draws attention away from the music. Which could be a bad or a good thing! I'm going to see the show on Thursday so I'll be more qualified to comment then. I hope the music is good too because I've also ordered the album.
