The first revival of show from this decade?

I think what's most likely is one of those limited run Christmas shows- Elf, A Christmas Story, etc. coming back first.

But musicals I think will become classics and get revived eventually- Once, Fun Home, Gentleman's Guide, An American in Paris. The others that will become classics- DEH, Hamilton, TBV aren't going away anytime soon.

I won't be surprised if the most recent revival of Les Mis comes back either for a limited run.

Matilda won't be revived for decades unless someone can find a way to produce it for much cheaper. It appeared to have crazy high running expenses.

I can't imagine Fun Home coming back for at least 10 years given it just left us.

Perhaps a ridiculous suggestion, but if they had a star I wonder if next to normal might be ripe for revival in the next couple years. Maybe the David Cromer Chicago production.

Fun Home was boring in the past. I have never seen a show before where I wanted to punch every single cast member/character on the stage.

I hope that comes back as I have heard so many good things about it. I think it has only had a dodgy small theatre company do it the UK.

To expand the conversation a little... Deaf West Spring Awakening was the only revival of a musical from the 21st century so far, right? I wonder what the next will be?

David Yazbek alone isn't enough to sell The Full Monty, but I could see it working better this time.

Also, I think we'll see Light in the Piazza again in the not-so-distant future (and it won't be with Kelli O'Hara as Margaret).

There won't be an In The Heights revival for quite some time, all engines are going to get the movie out in 2020.

I have been thinking of who could ever top the original cast of Bridges. I'd love to see Mazzie and her husband take on the role (the N2N pairing was so novel!). But they'd never sell tickets.

What about a production with Audra McDonald and Brian Stokes Mitchell? I didn't realise Brian is as old as he is..and the years are progressing for Audra too. But could they possibly have 5-10 years left before they age out of the roles? I think they have the potential of topping the original cast. And maybe Audra will make it a hit.
