Hi… Have tickets for "Dear Evan Hansen" on Friday, April 7… Only way I got them was through an incredibly good connection who got us House seats. I'm not the jealous type but yes I would be jealous of me as well! Ha ha...Anyway… Pre-theater dinner suggestions in the theater district? Did a search and apparently nobody has posted anything recently… Joe Allen? Would rather hear from you guys… Much better than yelp… Thank you!

WIthout knowing your tastes and budget, who knows? But, Joe Allen (always Allen not Allen's) is always a good choice. Home of the notorious flop wall, great burgers, great service perfectly attuned to showtimes.
Reservations are available no more than a week in advance (OpenTable)

Joe Allen would be my first suggestion, too. Also love Thalia.

My goto has always been Totto Ramen, but then again, I don't get good ramen where I live so that adds to my bias. They opened a new outlet on 51st & 10th which is still undiscovered and not as busy. They are fast and cheap.

Chaan Teng, a great new Hong Kong style restaurant by Chef Pichet Ong (Spice Market, P*ong) opened a few months ago in the theater district. Highly recommend.

I feel like I'm revealing a secret in sharing this, but I love going to Ippudo Westside on 51st Street before a show. The wait there is significantly less than the restaurant's downtown counterpart, and their ramen and pork buns are just the very, very best.

Personally I'm a fan of John's Pizzeria in Times Square. The pizza is tasty, the building is really neat, and most importantly, it's reasonably priced. You have to order a whole pie - I typically order a six-piece pie and split it with another person. It's great for getting out the door in NYC for around $15/person.

Becco on 46th or Maria Pia on 51st- both great, very affordable Italian restaurants. Becco's "Sinfonia de Pasta" is to die for, and Maria Pia's prix fixe lunch specials are excellent.

I highly recommend Spoonfed on W. 51st. They have a connection to the theater world and serve really great Southern cooking. http://www.spoonfednyc.com/
"At the suggestion of his co-workers, Randy would prepare individual meals and leave them at various theaters to cater to Broadway shows on two-show days. He relied on the 'honor system,' and folks would pay cash or put in an I.O.U. Soon, his husband, Mark and he were catering for theatrical, as well as non-Broadway, events."

Junior's right in the heart of the theatre district is a perfect spot to eat before or after your show. I eat there pretty much every day when I go to NYC, and I get to NYC about 2-3 times a year. Was just in NYC 2 months ago for 2 weeks, and ate there every evening. They have a very extensive menu and the food is always delicious.
With it being right in the heart of the theatre district, you can get there early, have nice relaxing dinner, or lunch and get to the show without being rushed. Just allow for time as it can get quite crowded right before or after a show. Now that it's summer, the outdoor patio is a great spot to eat at.
Junior's just opened up it's 2nd midtown location on Broadway.

I really like Kodama, and it's down the block from Dear Evan Hansen. Actually I love going to Kodama, and then Schmakery's for a cookie!
I do like Haru and Virgil's BBQ also.

I know it's a chain, but I love Shake Shack. I always plan to get there during off hours so it's not as crowded. Plus, you can get it to go and walk to Bryant Park to eat.

Seconding John's Pizzeria. The food is great and the surroundings really nice. I always try to get there when I'm in NYC.
