For those who went today, what did you think?

I have never been before but man were the cast of the shows really going after each other hard, lots of boo's and gasp's.

On the brighter side
(SPOILERS!)

My money is on Mary Poppins or Billy Elliott winning best sketch. Follies and Anything goes had the best surprise guest, and the grease reunion gave me chills. Also while it was a nice try spiderman's number was super pretentious.

Flounce: When a member of an online community announces they are leaving, usually after a protracted disagreement with other members of the community.

Page was hardly a surprise since she's in the show.
The title of the song is JUNE IS BUSTIN' OUT ALL OVER.

I thought this was a very strong year, lots of highlights.
More later...

Mary Poppins better win. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard.

I was there this afternoon. I have to say, it was definitely one of the best GYPSYs that I have ever attended. Lots of great stuff. But, hands down MARY POPPINS took the gold for me. This was one of the funniest things I have EVER seen on a Broadway stage. Absolutely hilarious! When it was announced that BILLY beat POPPINS the people sitting around me were aghast! That guy who opened the skit was SOOOOOOO freakin funny! And those kids were astounding. Great show all around. Congratulations to all involved.

The entire show is always filmed and then released for sale on DVD.

Where are the DVDs sold for prior year editions?
Meanwhile, at this time, on that secret site, there might be, perhaps, a video of the Mary Poppins bit. A little difficult to hear, but absolutely uproarious nevertheless. And the intro is classic. Don't know how much longer it will stay up. (And Billy Elliott's performance is also up there for comparison).
Before it gets pulled.....

Why do you think BroadwayWorld chose to post the FOLLIES skit and not the far superior POPPINS skit? Weird.

"Why do you think BroadwayWorld chose to post the FOLLIES skit and not the far superior POPPINS skit? Weird."

FOLLIES is a recent show and POPPINS has been running for years + Elaine Page is a better-known name than...whoever the kids were? POPPINS' skit was very clever and original, and the kids were fantastic, but really BWW's choice was a no-brainer.

By that logic, why didn't they post the ANYTHING GOES skit? It was far superior to FOLLIES (Which I did find very entertaining). AG was recent and Leslie Uggams is a recognizable name.

I guess I'd say because ANYTHING GOES isn't the theatrical icon that FOLLIES and EVITA are, and while Leslie Uggams is a recognized name, she's more of a footnote in entertainment history whereas Ms Page is currently in a well-received Broadway show.
