Dude, sweets... you need to ask your damn director. He is the one chosen to make those decisions. If he can't figure it out, he is in the wrong field.

A director is the one who selects those choices on how a role should be played... hence the name: DIRECTOR! He... directs!

Geez!

By the way... I love THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE. You need to learn to spell it correctly before you can even bother to ask more questions about the damn show. re: Througholy Modern Millie ?

"Thoroughly" is the word that eliminated me from the seventh grade spelling bee...

They should all be played well. And I didn't care for the show.

Furthermore, that Millie wasn't a holy girl at all with all that boozing and dancing going on. And don't even get me started on her "modern" hairdo.

Ah... they're taking the Mary Zimmerman/Jack O'Brien approach to directing: ask strangers on a message board. re: Througholy Modern Millie ?

Usually, the writers of plays and shows are kind enough to leave clues in the script as to how these characters behave.

1. No, a character should never be played "typically".
2. No, definitely not.
3. With heart
4. Hardest character to play.

I really enjoyed the OC and the show. I also had a fabulous time directing it this time last year.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Figure it out for yourself. Sorry to be rude, but if you're an actor, you shouldn't have been cast if you can't figure it out on your own. And if you're a director, you shouldn't be directing if you can't figure it out on your own. Besides, there's no set way to play any character in ANY show. That's why we see theatre.

Couldn't you simply listen to the OBCR and watch the movie and figure these things out through simple observation.

And how else should they be played other than how you described? They're all pretty classic musical theatre types.
