I apologize if this was mentioned previously, but I noticed that August: Osage County, November, and The Homecoming are all at $102.50, while I'm pretty sure that they were all at $98.50 or $99.50 a month or so ago. I may be mistaken, but I believe this is the highest price ever for a play (not a musical) on Broadway.

What a great idea. Raise prices on a luxury item just as the economy is tanking!

Those ticket prices have definitely increased and it's sort of interesting since they are not all doing such great business.

November just broke the house record at the Barrymore this past week and August: Osage County is transferring to a new theater next month because of how well it has been doing.
I don't know if $102.50 is the highest yet for a play, but I do remember all the brouhaha back in 1999 when The Iceman Cometh had top prices at an even $100.
The last rows of IN THE HEIGHTS, which used to be $20, have raised to $30.
THE LITTLE MERMAID last rows have raised to (were they $25 before?) to $50.
I don't know about other shows...

Unfortunately, The Homecoming has been doing business well below 50% for some time despite the fact that it's a great show. In addition, the average price for tickets sold is usually well below $102.50 with all the available discounts.
Ticket prices for Broadway shows rising?
I am totally at a loss for words. Who would have ever imagined. I echo what one poster said - in the middle of a recession. Great thinking guys.
Is anyone really surprised? Recession or not, we theater fans will pay to see the shows we want to see...
There are a number of shows we have not seen as we are simply unwilling to pay full price for the vast majority of shows.
If there are people out there who will pay whatever price is charged- no matter how ridiculous - that is their affair.
Most of what we see is discounted. If some show wew are on the fence about is not discounted, we do not see it.
I will pay full price...occaisionally, but usually I go for the discount codes. (But haven't for ANY shows I'm seeing in the next month: Sunday in the Park; In the Heights, South Pacific, Cry-Baby (which I'm worried about based on reviews here.) and Gypsy. This time of year its EASY to get the discounts.
I think it's interesting when looking at the grosses to see the ACTUAL avg ticket price.
