Their annual percentages. They are extremely disappointed with this dismal season too.

How sad is it that more people voted for Scarlett Johansoon than for Jessica Hecht? This is like a bad popularity contest.
I think that that will be the list of the winners right there.
CZJ and Montego are too close, I hope they have a tie. Montego really deserves this, but CZJ is more famous and a lot of people are voting for her because she is a superstar. She was brilliant in ALNM and I think she also deserves a Tony, but she is a supporting actress compared to Montego Glover in Memphis.
La Cage and Hodge will probably win, which shows exactly what's wrong with the theatre today and with its overrated reviews.

Johansson was far better than Jessica Hecht in my opinion. Jessica played the role the same way she played Blanche in the short-lived Brighton Beach. To me, it felt like lines being read off the page. Scarlett's performance was very nuanced. Either way, it doesn't matter since Jan Maxwell and her bag are going to wipe the floor with all of them.

Wrong. People are voting for CZJ because she's amazing in the show and she's giving a beautiful performance. She can act circles around Montego.
All in all these are predictions that seem pretty accurate to me with a few weird ones here and there (orchestrations to Fela? Doubtful... Memphis will take it). Sad that Chris Fitzgerald only got 4% of the office vote though... especially after picking up the Drama Desk.

Posted: 6/10/10 at 12:55amI like that they have a slight gripe about RED winning Best Play and proceed to predict it winning almost all of the play awards and explaining how deserving it is of each one...

I said that CZJ was brilliant. She is truly great in ALNM, but if she weren't CZJ I don't think she would've gotten all the attention she got in this show.

but if she weren't CZJ I don't think she would've gotten all the attention she got in this show.
That makes no sense. She's being nominated for HER performance. If it were someone else, and that person had gotten raves, that person would be getting attention and possibly a nomination for their performance.

#8Time Out NY's Tony predictions...
Posted: 6/10/10 at 1:46amIt's the fact that she is Catherine Zeta-Jones that makes this such a great performance. She brings so much glamour, so much old Hollywood style to the role that she captivates you from the moment she's on stage. She brings something to the table that few actresses could. And her "Send in the Clowns" is a tour-de-force regardless of whether she's Catherine Zeta-Jones or not. Montego Glover can sing well and that's it, that doesn't merit a Tony. Zeta-Jones acts her songs and acts the part (unlike Glover, she doesn't get to hide behind the singing since Desiree doesn't have many songs), the Tony should go to her...and still, I think it'll be Glover who wins.

Ray, I hope you are right. Why do think Montego will win? I just love seeing fresh talent like hers, her speaking parts might not be her strongest, but she acts terrific while she sings(if that makes any sense)
But I think CZJ will win, and I agree, she is terrific and her Send In The Clowns is probably my favorite rendition of the song.

#11Time Out NY's Tony predictions...
Posted: 6/10/10 at 9:37amThat's one of the ones I think is wonky, tazber. I really don't know if Stephen is going to win. I know a lot of featured actors have won for August Wilson before, but his part is just so small. And if Red has the momentum that everyone is saying it does, Eddie will pick up the award.

Sherie is definitely not winning. I saw the show with two Tony voters who hated, loathed and despised everything about the production.
I have a feeling Glover will take it. I also have a feeling that Fela might pull a few upsets (but not likely Best Musical).

#14Time Out NY's Tony predictions...
Posted: 6/10/10 at 12:02pmFrankly I hope I'm wrong muscle. Glover winning would be one of the most unworthy wins in Tony history.

I feel like La Cage or Fela is going to win choreography. Is that crazy? For some reason, I just don't see Twyla getting it. People seem so divided about the show.
And I'm with MB on Glover. I suspect she'll win even though I think she's the least deserving of the five nominees. She's just not a good actress, and I didn't find anything special about her voice. I just wish Christinne Noll had a semblance of a chance. By far the strongest in the group, in my opinion.
I'm also rooting for a surprise in Featured Actor in a Musical. I'd be happy with de Jesus, Steggert, or Fitzgerald winning. Which isn't to knock Kreis (who does his best to rise above his material). I just think he's giving the MOST performance rather than the best.

Posted: 6/10/10 at 1:15pmI feel as though Twyla getting it would be trying to give her something for the show. And yet, I agree with you that people don't seem very passionate the show. I feel an upset could happen, and both LA CAGE and especially FELA seem very possible.

I think it's funny that when Rapture was announced many people said the leading actress race was over!
Anyway, I still think CZJ will win.

Posted: 6/10/10 at 2:34pmI really hope that they're correct and the wonderful Stephen McKinley Henderson takes home a well-deserved Tony.

ljay, I was thinking the same thing. I remember when people were talking about how Scott should thank Mullally in her acceptance speech!
Most of these predictions are fine with me, although I'm really hoping Steggert wins (not expecting it, but still hoping!). Don't really want MEMPHIS to win either, but it's basically a given for Best Musical, Score and Book at this point so I've accepted it. And I'm really hoping TONY is right about Zeta-Jones pulling out a win.

The fact that Glover is even being considered a contender for this award tell us what an awful season it has been.
And...the fact that Scott is not a shoo-in for it is a crying shame. Truly the best performance by a leading actress this year.

Ugh, Glover.
It'd be one thing if she were the second choice. The Kelli O'Hara to Zeta-Jones' Patti LuPone, for example. But she's so clearly the LEAST deserving of all the nominees . . . ugh.

Sherie Rene Scott should win, though I know it's fat chance... SHAME! She's out of the league to be honest!
Oh, and my friend said, if Eddie Redmayne doesn't win, he's going to kill someone.
