Odd because I was in the subway station at Grand Central this afternoon and their was a man walk the platform with a large black suitcase on his shoulder and screaming about how we will watch Obama run scared into the night or some b.s. I informed police and im sure it is unrelated, but quite odd...

Great... I'm gonna be there tomorrow. Hopefully they won't cancel Promises, Promises.

Intermission at Rock of Ages; started pretty close to on time.
In the Heights started about 30 min late.
Curious to hear about Come Fly Away, as their stage door was blocked off earlier.

That theater is several blocks away from the area closed off.

Promises, Promises is well north of the closed off area, so I doubt they were/will be affected at all.

Well, I just saw the live camera.. I didn't know how far the would have blocked off the streets.

Isn't the Broadway Theater farther up? I would think it is not affected by this. And I doubt it would be tomorrow.

According to one of the actors, some of the shorter shows that have ended are holding their patrons in the theater until allowed to leave.

Yikes.
The New York Times is now saying it WAS a bomb that did not go off, but they don't know if it was related to terrorism.

On the 11:00 news, NBC reported that, in the back seat, there were 3 propane tanks, black powder and some sort of timing device. They said it wasn't clear if it was set to go off. Pretty scary stuff!

ABC adds this creepy detail:
According to one account, the vehicle was driven into Times Square, was left with its flashers on and then the driver left.

That's really terrifying...I saw La Cage Aux Folles and The Fantasticks today. The Fantasticks started on time but I have to walk downtown to get my train and I walked by 47th street and Times Square was deserted...kind of creepy.

"A federal official said the incident was not considered it a terrorist threat..."
Aaah! Grammar!
Still, it's reassuring to know that response teams are able to handle such a situation quickly and safely.

Reuters says FDNY confirms it was an explosive device.

NBC just confirmed it to be "a homemade explosive device that may or may not have actually worked."
They've also widened the perimeter.
Oddly enough, NBC is not going to continue following the story, but it going to SNL on time.

Reuters got a rogue firefighter to give them the info, without FDNY authorization:
The SUV that triggered the evacuation of Times Square on Saturday night contained explosives, gasoline, propane and burned wires, a New York firefighter told Reuters.

Will it be Karl Rove, Ann Coulter or Mr Roxy who will point out this was the second attack on Obama's watch and that there were none when Geo W Bush was president?
