just wanted to post this and spark a conversation about this show. I would like to know how people feel about this show seeing as it's been several years since it debuted. Favorite parts? Miss it?

This is honestly such a love it or hate it show. My vocal coach saw it and HATED it. He seriously DESPISED it. I love Heidi (from Something Rotten!) and I think the premise is okay. It was really never going to be a big hit. It's kind of like GGLAM, where no one ever thought it was going to be like Hamilton or Rent or The Producers. The critics gave it mixed reviews, and though it had an audience, the audience was rather small.

I love it! I find it funny, clever, and inventive. I listen to the cast album frequently.

It had nowhere near the success of Gentleman's Guide. It ran for 3 months or so.
It was cute, quirky and heartfelt....but not much more. I prefer the recording to the show itself, truth be told.

I was in a production of [title of show] in Ann Arbor in 2014, and although I loved the score, the book is tedious, and towards the last 25 minutes or so, there are no fun numbers and the whole last third or so is a depressing mess. I didn't see it on Broadway or any production (I was 14 at the time) but I have heard it was at its best at the NYMF and off-Broadway, that by the time it was on Broadway, it was a bloated mess. Whether or not that bloated mess is the licensed version I performed in, I don't know. Also I thought I heard there were voicemails from Broadway actresses refusing to be in the show, but that wasn't in my production. Those would be fun to hear.

I absolutely loved [title of show] and was so pleased when it made it to Broadway, although it was obvious from the get-go that its passionate audience wouldn't be big enough for it to last. Then again, that fits perfectly with the show's song "Nine People's Favorite Thing".
The cast was great and the score was funny/witty and I was saddened (though not surprised) that it was practically shut out on Tony day aside from its Book nomination.
I was also a fan of their YouTube channel on the road to Broadway they had, particularly when they did the "What is [title of show]?" video that perfectly parodied those cheesy cheaply made informational videos that were a staple of the late 80s and the 90s.

It was the absolute worst show I ever saw. I suffered all the way to the end hoping that it would have some redeeming quality of moment...but that never came.

I wasn't a fan of it at all. The premise fell flat after 15 minutes and it just became so tedious to sit through.

I was prepared to love it and to my surprise hated it, as did my friend. Much ado about nothing, indeed. TOS was even more tedious than SPELLING BEE, which I also thought was overly hyped nothing.

So I see [tos] has a lot of mixed feelings. I for one live the show but I understand where you guys are coming from. But the writers did write "Nine People's Favorite Things" so they knew that the show wasn't going to be everyone's favorite.

NO show will be everyone's favorite. Hardly a news flash here. Even Hamilton has detractors, as does Wicked, Book of Mormon, Lion King and every other show/movie/piece of art in existence.
They hoped they'd run for longer than 3 months, though.

The three months it ran its grosses averaged 25-30 percent which meant it was losing money every day. Because of the very good reviews it received I considered seeing it, but once I saw the bare bones stagecraft and learned what it was about - writing a Broadway show - my eyes glazed over. I guess I wasn't alone.
