Good evening, BroadwayWorld.

My partner and I enjoyed this past weekend in NY. Thank you to all who recommended OOTI. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The primary purpose of the trip was to bring our friend to see Dolly and DEH, as we saw both in the fall.

We are heading back next Thursday for a four-day blitz of shows, all new to us. I'm thrilled to be seeing My Fair Lady in one of its final previews, as well as Angels in America. We also have tickets to Frozen on Thursday night. Based on the comments on this site and critics' reviews, we are second-guessing our choice. If I opt to sell the tickets, what should we see in its place?

We have already seen DEH, CFA, Lion King, Wicked, Hello, Dolly, Mean Girls (in D.C.), The Band's Visit, BOM, Beautiful, Chicago, OOTI and Kinky Boots.

Appreciate everyone's thoughts. Keep Frozen tickets or sell and get tickets to (fill in the blank).

That place looks great. Thanks for the recommendation. I think we just found another good pre-theatre restaurant for Thursday or Friday. :)

If you are a fan of Frozen and/or Disney, you will like it. The reviews of every Disney show are never stellar. I personally think this is one of their better productions.

If you are not really into Disney/Frozen, I would say pass and check out Three Tall Women!

frozen is wonderful.  if you enjoyed the movie you'll enjoy the play.  the design is stunning the actors are incredible, and its a wonderful night in the theatre.

you CLEARLY see ALOT.  you have to see it if only just to say you've seen it!

I'm a big fan of making up your own mind. I often agree with reviews but often don't. I sometimes agree with posters here but often don't. It's up to you.

Besides there was a wide range of opinions. If you wanted to see it enough to get tickets to begin with, I say go and enjoy yourself and don't worry about anyone else's opinion.

If I were to listen to all of the extremely negative folks on this board, I’d never have seen some of my all time favorite shows. Seriously, for a board supposedly made up of Broadway fans, most here seem to hate Broadway.

We did like the movie. My favorite Disney productions are (in this order) Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Newsies, Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid. We've yet to see Aladdin as well.

This makes me more optimistic. I kept hearing about the scenic design being the weakest part of the production.

I mean, it's not like Frozen is bad in a way people couldn't see coming. It's not even bad, it's just... lukewarm.

What made you want to see Frozen originally? Take that reason and see if, based on reviews, it's likely to deliver.

Go see Frozen, it's great! I think people have higher expectations of Disney because it's Disney, and give unfair critiques a lot of the time. I also think movie-to-stage gets harsher reviews than new stories. If you end up not loving it, then just tell yourself you attended a Caissie Levy concert, and that will be well worth the money anyway. But seriously, I think you will enjoy it and you'll be supporting a story about strong female characters so that's an added bonus.

I would go ahead and see the show. The sets and orchestrations are beautiful and it's enjoyable.

Have fun!

This is coming from someone that has no desire to see Frozen on Broadway.   YOU, however, did want to see it -- so go and decide for yourself.  Chances all, while it won't be your favorite, you'll probably still enjoy it.

I think, maybe there have been 2 or 3 shows I've disliked SO much, that I've actually regretted going.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

If the tix weren't bought already, I would say see something else, and wait for more reviews / feedback to come in over the next few months.

However, since you've already bought the tix - stick to your plan on seeing it. It's one of the more anticipated shows for this season - it would be great to say "I've seen that!" and share your review.

BTW - I didn't like the movie so I will be staying away myself.

Thanks! My partner wanted to see it more than I did, but I did enjoy the movie.

You've never been to Joe Allen's? It's a famous Broadway Hang-out. Check out all the flop posters on the walls. Make a reservation first.

If you haven't seen Aladin yet, I'd go for that before FROZEN.

Aladdin is better than frozen?? You’re crazy. It may have been a bigger spectacle with more dancing and glitter, but the direction was miserable.

Aladdin cut Iago, apu, and raja!

It would be like frozen cutting Sven and Olaf. (Both which appear and are as lovely as you would expect them to be...)

Frozen is way better. It’s not as good as beauty and the beast or lion king, but it was a solid evening of Theatre. Aladdin left me disappointed.

If you were only coming in and seeing one show not sure I'd recommend. It was not the best show I ever saw, but it was enjoyable. Especially if you like the story of Frozen. I'd stick with it.

YES! This is the perfect description. I saw it this weekend, loved the movie but knew to walk into this with zero expectations after being severely disappointing by Aladdin. Frozen's high points are a million times better than ANYTHING in Aladdin. It wasn't perfect, but it delivered and had a lot going for it. Caissey and Patti alone are worth the price of admission. I also enjoyed (most) of the sets and the orchestrations, as already mentioned, were beautiful as well.

Do be warned- there were A LOT of kids at my performance, which is to be expected in a Disney musical, but a lot of them talked throughout the entire show, to the point where I wanted to go up to the parents at intermission and tell them to have some respect for the theater. Also, drinks are RIDICULOUSLY expensive. 2 drinks and a bottle of water cost me $71, if I hadn't had to wait in the line for 30 mins I would have just told them to keep them but I didn't want to have to hold up the line any longer. Oh well!

Once something is lukewarm, it is literally incapable of being frozen.

Wow. I had no idea about those cuts. Glad I missed it.
