Of note....
Mandy Gonzalez is eligible as a leading actress for her work in In the Heights. Might she snag that 5th slot? I would certainly choose her over Kerry Butler.
Not surprisingly, the only lead from Passing Strange will be Stew.
Sean Palmer has been ruled a leading actor (??), not that he stands a snowball's chance of a nomination.
Sunday's projections are being included as part of their set design.

Dammit... I really wanted Daniel Breaker to get a Lead nomination.
And yeah, Mandy might pose a real threat to Kerry Butler.
I think this means that Daniel Breaker has a really good chance at being nominated/winning Best Featured Actor.
I think Mandy has a great shot at snagging that fifth slot, she's wonderful in ITH.
Well, I certainly hope SUNDAY wins Set Design of a Musical, then.

Has there been a ruling on Kate Fleetwood of Macbeth? Laurie Metcalf of November? James Earl Jones of Cat On a Hot Tin Roof?
Now I wish that BOTH Mandy Gonzalez and Kerry Butler get nominated; perhaps no nomination for Faith Prince? (haven't seen her perf. yet)...
Why don't you read the article?

I assume Macbeth will be discussed at their final meeting, along with the other shows that have not, or just recently, opened.

As much as I didn't like A Catered Affair, Faith Prince was very good, and will be nominated. That last slot will either be Butler or Gonzalez. Butler gets it if they feel badly about snubbing her for Hairspray.

I love how people are assigning nomination slots (as if they ruled the theatre world) before the noms are even annonced or most shows have even opened.
There are still 8 shows that havent even opened yet. Let us show a little respect to those shows.
Anything could happen. Who knows? Faith Prince could be replaced at the 11th hour. Its called previews for a reason.
So
Best Leading Actor musical (So far)
.Sean Palmer
.Lin-Manuel Miranda (YAY!)
.Stew
Best Leading Actress in a musical (So far)
.Mandy Gonzalez (YAY!)
.Sierra Boggess
(Seriously no contest!)
I'm glad Merkerson and Anderson are in the running. 'Sheba' was overbriming with talent.
Kinda cool that 3 'Sunday' actors are being considered as Featured. And it'll be cool to see the scenic/design elements nom'd.
Props to Edwards in '39 Steps' though I really wish there was a Best Ensemble category for that show.
'Mermaid' score nom seems like a cop-out.

What planet are you on? Those categories are the 2 that are actually set in stone.
Actor - Miranda, Stew, Wopat, Szot, Evans
Actress - Butler, LuPone, Russell, Prince, O'Hara

Those categories had very little suspense in them, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out who is going into the leading actor/ actress in a musical categories.
Butler's nomination is now no longer a sure thing with Gonzalez in the mix. At least the last nominee in that category will be interesting, since the winner won't be.
I disagree, Yankee.
Jackson will get a nomination over Stew.
Stew's nomination will be for Best Score.
Eug, the rule of thumb with Best Score has always been that if 50% or more of the score was written for the theatre, it is eligible for the Best Original Score nomination.

I'm still pulling for Carpinello (the one I saw in the part) to get an honorary nom.
And what exactly IS an honorary nom?
Butler's nom IS a sure thing. Gonzalez ain't getting that fifth slot. I'm sorry, but she just isn't. Lin Manuel Miranda and Robin de Jesus are probably the only actors in the show getting noms.
I completely disagree. Butler may well be nominated, but it is by no means a sure thing.
I also think Olga Merediz will be nominated for her work in that show.
I think that Butler is a sure thing. She's very charming in a show that will probably be nominated for Best Musical (now that the word is that Cry Baby is horrible). And, in my opinion, Mandy Gonzalez is not good enough in In The Heights to be considered a threat. She can sing, sure. But I find her to be very bland. I saw her off-Broadway and hoped that she would improve after the transfer, and unfortunately she didn't.
I do think that Merediz has a chance, but you never know.
Merediz is a sure thing.
She will absolutely be nominated.
I think she is the biggest threat to Laura Benanti.
If Benanti manages to keep a consistent attendance record at Gypsy (and so far, so good), then she has nothing to worry about. They might as well just ship the damn thing to her house and save her the trouble having to pick out a dress.
so does this mean Robin De Jesus is eligible for featured actor?
Yes.
I don't know guys, I thought Mandy was great, but the Tony committee has never been particularly favorable to romantic leads...
I mean, if its between her and Kerry Butler, Kerry takes it based on her ability to imitate a pop star with a sound that isn't all that original and immediately make you recognize who she is imitating.
Both probably deserve a nomination, but one will get one. Kerry's role is much larger though...
