And Alex has an insanely demanding role & probably needed to be in vocal rest for the Tonys. Everyone on these boards just hates OOTI for no reason smh... it won, get over it."
I’m not sure the number, but Hailey has definitely missed more performances than that.

Do you guys, like, ever check things before posting them as fact? It's usually a good idea. :P
Caissie Levy was out for the Saturday matinee, she did the evening show.

I don’t hate OOTI in the least, I’m quite a fan and am friends with an investor- I’m thrilled for it’s success. I’m almost positive your numbers are off for Alex and Hailey missing- she missed nearly an entire week very recently and Alex is not always on either. Vocal rest is one thing, but the part is not, as you say, insanely demanding for a woman. That’s not a dig in the least- he has a song as all the God’s do, and Tamyra’s is the song that has a reprise. I truly think the production deserved it’s win and Arden is an incredibly inventive director and elevated that material beautifully, which is what the other two revivals failed to do.

Who is Alex Newell's understudy in OOTI? I'm just curious because not a lot of guys have the same vocal chops as Alex!

Aurelia Williams is the first understudy and I believe Loren Lott's replacement, Courtnee Carter, is the second understudy (I know Lott was the second understudy). Both women!

I saw it that night and Groban was in; Amber Gray was the only one out. However, Groban, Denee Benton, Lucas Steele, and Amber Gray were all out that matinee, if I'm not mistaken."
I must have done Comet as the matinee and Dolly as the evening show, which makes sense, as that was my first time seeing Bette, so I wouldn't put any show in the impossible position of following her...

Aurelia Williams was who I saw on for Alex and both of his understudies are female- you’re correct not a lot of gents have his range
Alysha Delacroix from Hamilton is Hailey’s first understudy, but she was out as well and Courtnee was who I saw- it was her debut and the cast had a sign congratulationing her during curtain call- she slayed!

Sounds like the FROZEN ladies have pretty spotty attendance.
I don’t understand why they schedule performances on the day of the Tony Awards. I understand that the date isn’t always announced in time, but it really just seems crazy.

are you prepared to give the producers the roughly $5million in lost ticket sales that would cost? Because otherwise if not it doesn't seem crazy at all to me.

Some tidbits:
- Alex Newell did 100+ shows from the start of the run to the beginning of Feb before ever missing a show.
- Hailey is 19 and is still learning how to pace for 8 shows a week. It's not something you learn just like that. Also she doesn't miss a crazy amount. But she has been out for more than one show in 7 months lmao. Loren would go on for her a good amount of times. Usually matinees.
- Alysha is the concerning one. Loren was her primary u/s and she would be on 1-2 times every week. Even more than that often times. Alysha was even out of tonights show.
- Even though Alex might only have one song, the entire cast sings background in practically every song. Mix that, eight shows a week, and tony prep all together is a lot.

I've not heard of Lenk missing even one show. I don't have that on good authority though, just from people saying that on the internet.
Taylor Louderman and Ashley Park have both never missed a show of Mean Girls yet.

Unless something goes very wrong, she'll be in. Hasn't missed a single show since they premiered off-Broadway, which is insane!

I think I read that Ashley did miss one a couple weeks ago. But overall, it seems like the Mean Girls cast has a commendable attendance record, especially Taylor.

I was wondering about Lenk as well as I haven't heard of her missing at all. I miss both Alex and Lea at OOTI and also LaChanze this season besides the Shalhoub outages. Gets soooo frustrating.

Shows in the past have planned accordingly and altered the performance week. I remember WAR PAINT didn't have a matinee on Tony day - something LuPone & Ebersole probably negotiated.

A one-off schedule change would still result in less box office for anything that wasn't a huge hit show.

Did Tee go on for Ashley? I didn't see anything about it on social media.

Lord. Do Y'all KNOW how rough the weeks leading up to the TONY awards are? It's ridiculous! There's all the other award shows, you're doing interviews and press and Good morning America and The View, there's rehearsal and camera blocking rehearsal, not to mention (at OOTI especially), they are losing SEVERAL cast members very soon (Alysha, Grasan, Loren, Alex, etc.), so they're doing rehearsals AND put-ins. The day of the awards show you have to be at your theatre at 8am. Of COURSE you need to take care of yourself, which may mean calling out. There should be a freaking matinee on that Sunday - it's absurd to do a TONY rehearsal, then matinee, then TONY performance, AFTER you've just done 8 shows. Sweet Lord. Get off your high horse, go sit on your couch.
