I'm going to put my vote for medleys on all the nominated shows. Give up the superfluous "big star singing broadway song" and useless patter to give each nominated show the option to highlight 2-3 songs,
if they so wish. Medleys give the audience to chance to get a better idea of the show, instead of just one big ensemble number which may not capture the essence of the show.
Good examples of medleys:
Into the Wood revival (bad audio aside)
Chicago
Spelling Bee
Of course, the shows that feel they can pull off their money shot in one big number, go ahead! But give each show 5 minutes to do what they want...in an ideal world, of course.
