In no Order :

Ladies Who Lunch - Company
The Miller's Son - A Little Night Music
Someone is Waiting - Company
Lesson # 8 - Sunday in the Park with George
A Little Priest - Sweeney Todd
The Right Girl - Follies

I had to edit to add the right girl because for over a month I have not been able to stop singing it!

At this particular moment in time,in no particular order:

Could I Leave You?
Anyone Can Whistle
Multitudes of Amys (cut from Company)
No One Is Alone
Franklin Shepard, Inc.

By the time this message posts, that list will probably have changed.

re: Top 5 Favorite Sondheim Songs (lyrics or music or both!)

I have really only seen 3 shows so my list doesn't have much variety.

You know, I hear they have these newfangled contraptions called Compact Discs that allow to to hear a song without seeing it live!! Amazing!

Seriously, though, buy or borrow all the Sondheim recordings you can, at least to listen through once. Some of my favorite Sondheim songs are from shows I've never seen live.

In all, the most loved sondheim songs talked about in this thread are (in order) :

Being Alive (11 votes)
No one is alone (9)
Finishing the Hat ( 8 )
Move on ( 8 )
A little priest (7)
A weekend in the country (7)
Someone in a tree (6)
Johanna (6)
Sunday (6)

I might have made a mistake or two, but I'm pretty sure this is accurate for now...

Picking a top five is nearly impossible. But one of my favorites is from "Is This What You Call Love" from Passion.

Call it what you will
This is not love, this is a reverse
Like a curse, something out of control
I've begun to fear
For my soul...

re: Top 5 Favorite Sondheim Songs (lyrics or music or both!)

This is too hard! I'll try to limit it to 1 song per show...

If Mama Was Married - Gypsy
Being Alive - Company
No One is Alone - Into the Woods
A Little Priest - Sweeney Todd
Send in the Clowns - A Little Night Music
Somewhere - West Side Story

And I'm partial to Bernadette's rendition of Not a Day Goes By - Merrily We Roll Along.
